I have one of each and my male cat is alot more affectionate and playful. My female hates to be held or petted unless she decides she wants to be. My vet also told me if she had to pick, she would want a male cat because they have a better temperment.
And they only spray if you dont have them fixed which you should be doing because there are enough homeless animals in this world. They are also cheaper to have fixed then a female.

Whatever. Don't listen to these people. They do not know what they are talking about.
I have had male and female cats both all of my life. I have never had a male cat "spray" because I got them neutered. If you do that before they reach sexual maturity, they do not spray!! Period. They will continue to spray after being neutered if they are not neutered early enough. Otherwise, they don't.
Female cats are NOT more affectionate. It is not a gender issue. Whether or not a cat is affectionate depends totally on their personality. Being male or female does not matter!
I have had both and have enjoyed them all. I actually prefer males because they tend to be bigger in size. I like big cats. The bigger the better. I'd have a leopard as a pet if it were possible!

I prefer male cats, they make for better companions and they are usually larger than females and usually have a much more striking face!. I have had 5 male cats in my life all were nuetered as kittens. I was told if they are neutered before they ever spray their first time they will not do it. And with all 5 of mine they NEVER sprayed and I am a clean freak with my house so I WOULD have noticed. My current Cat i have had for 3 years, he is wonderful and a very loving animal

I like the female better because they are so much more loving that the male cat. I have to female cats and both of them are adorable.

I love all cats but for my house I prefer spayed females. They are quiet and seem content to lay around the house and be lapcats. The only male cat that I ever owned was affectionate but he sprayed around the house even though he was neutered and he always wanted to get out. That was probably just his particular personality but I've never had another male indoors since and I've never had anything like that happen with any of my females.

Females don't spray, but male cats a little more reasonable in attitude. Females cats typically are rambunctious, but I'd still prefer them over a spraying cat.

I prefer a female cat vs a male cat. Male cats unless you are going to neuter them will usually spray. Male cats are more likely to become territorial and not live well with other family pets. Male cats tend to want to roam more if let outside. Female cats are more laid back and generally just sleep, eat and want attention.

I personally prefer neutered male cats becuase in my experience they are way more affectionate towards people. I have a male/female who are both spayed/neutered. my female is just a one person only cat and cares for absolutly nobody but me. she is snobby to everybody else. but my male kitten loves everybody and everything. they only spray if you don't get them neutered or if you get them neutered to late. I love my female cat too but she's just not as friendly as the boy. all she does is sleep all day and lay on the window sills and watch the birds outside. my male cat is 10x more playful than the girl. he just loves for you to play with him with his pink and white sock he has.
so all in all, I think male neutered cats are the best.

Males. They are calmer and more affectionate. Also it is cheaper to neuter them than to spay a female and it has a shorter recovery time. Females also will leave marks to mark territory.
