I think that wicca holds the woman in the highest regard. Its a very pro-female religion that focuses on the beauty and power of woman and creation.

I think that most people would say islam would be the worst for women, but the religion itself i dont think is the problem as much as the social culture that dis-respects women. However I dont know enough on this subect to really comment.

However for a long time, i would say Christianity was and still is very disrespectful to women.

Islam clearly teaches that a woman is a full-person under the law, and is the spiritual equal of a male. Less than fifty years ago in England and America, a woman could not buy a house or car without the co-signature of her father or husband!

Wicca (despite the religion ever having a true name) would have to be the most equivalent of any religion. Buddhism, not being a religion but rather a philosophy, shares the same idea. Despite the belief of many, witchcraft was not designed or geared to women, it is meant for all. The god and the goddess share the seasons and the responsibilities of life and death equally. As is meant for man and woman. Women suffer the pain of birth, supporting the young and men suffer the pain of providing, possibly dying to defend them. It all goes hand in hand. It is rarely TRULY about the religion it is about the FOLLOWERS of the religion. All the religions have a CLAIM that they treat women (or children or outsiders) with a fairer hand than the others do and they will cite reasons for it and outsiders will give thier counter claims. I am a Christian so I believe that Christianity treats women the best. and all other religions treat them to a lesser degree. All the other religions are going to disagree and could easily point to ONE or more examples to "prove" thier point. Therefore it is more about how YOU are willing to be in that religion and do what you think is "treating them with respect"

I would say.... Reform Judaism treats women the best (and Judaism as a whole has always treated women with more respect than others) and the worst would be ANY ultra-conservative religion.

Islam respects women but the way they do it is by saying that men are not in control of their bodies and so we must protect the women from ourselves instead of learning to control themselves. Its the same as pre-1970's USA. We said if a woman got raped, it must've been her fault and that is exactly what they say.

BEFORE THE advent of Islam the arabs use to treat women very inhumanely.. they used to burn them alive and bury then after their birth... ISLAM CAME AND STOPPED ALL THESE SINS!!

Islam asks women to wear Loose clothes and cover its body other than FACE AND HANDS... but nowadays the women who veils their faces and hands is optional....!!

I am living in Saudi Arabia and we respect women alot... When they pass by we lower our gaze.. we cannot be rude to them.. and they have so many rights... e.g when they are walking on the road the car must stop for them to pass the street... and so many other things..!!!

THE WORST religion is Hinduism... They practice SATI.. which means "if a husband of a woman dies the woman also has to be burnt alive with her husband".. now this is cruel...!! But i know they are getting educated and these practices are getting lower and lower!

If you want to look at Jesus as the Man and leave religion out of it (religion is manmade), then I would say that He had respect for women. He treated the woman brought to him in adultery with respect by stooping down to the ground where the men had thrown her to speak to her and take her by the hand and lift her up with him. Also, you'll notice that Mary was the first evangelist - she was the first to see Jesus alive and tell about it. And I believe He wanted it that way. By the way, I don't believe they were married! His bride is the church (mess that we are!), He loves us anyway.

best: well i suppose it might be one of the smaller religions. like one of the Bushmen religions. some religion that people havent heard of. definitely not one of the bigger mainstream religions. they all seem to hate women. i vote for buddhism being the most women friendly.

worrsed: islam. by far. christianity is pretty bad (and ann coulter supports women being treated like crap) but id definitely go with islam. its hot as hell over there in the midle east and they force women into wearin full body clothing? ouch!
