Some people believe that Baptists and Penacostals can't get along. Some people also believe that one is going to heaven and the others aren't. What do you believe?

The Bible tells us that speaking in tongues does exist, and that it is a gift given by God. Are there those who misrepresent themselves, and make a sham out of this - of course. Are those who are touched by God, even in this day, with this gift - absolutely.
Is one denomination going to Heaven and the other not, is one person going to Heaven and another not - that's not for us to say. But by definition, anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior and asks for forgiveness of their sins will be in Heaven.
God did not make religion. God did not make denominations. God gave us His Son, and His Word.

Speaking in Tongues is normally referred to Baptism of holy spirit

John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
3:8 The wind blows where it pleases and you hear the sound thereof, but you can not tell from where it comes, and where it goes so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

According to Christ there is no sign of being born again.

But he is talking to a religious teacher that means it has a very deeper meaning rather than a simple sign.

Remember the Babylon:

Genesis11:9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Confusion of languages

Acts 2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

The language confusion was removed.

To spread the Gospel to the world in all languages.

Well it is a complicated study but this the simplest way I have right now to explain where as I can lecture it for hours.

Thank you.

speaking in tounges first happened in the book of Acts the apositiles were in Jerusulum for the passover and when one of them preached every person who heard him preach in his own language. so it is neither good nor evil. Paul in his later writing set down some basic ground rules for this, evidently many early believers were trying to elevate their personal positions within the church by doing this and proclaiming that they were especially blessed. Part of Paul's criteria was that the speaking had to praise God, be a known language and that there must be someone there who could translate the "message or praise" into a language understandable by the congregation present..I have been raised Baptist but have been to a few pentacostal meeting. The first time I heard someone take off in an oration in tounges it was a bit spooky to me, I didn't know what was really happening and no one really stopped to translate. I am sure there will be a great many denominations in Heaven most of the different denomination only differ in about 5 to 10 percent of their theology and the Bible states that belief in our Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to enter heaven...there are even Jews and Islams who have converted to Christanity and if their conversion is genuine they will be there as well...

I believe that speaking in tongues is good if you are doing it for the right reason. Speaking is tongues is
suppose to be a prayer to God , just between him & you
or a prophetic word to others that when said MUST be translated so that they can understand it . I was raised baptist , but have gone to penacostal churches too.
As far as who's going to heaven, whoever believes in
Jesus will go to heaven .

you can look up the info. re. tongues in the bible
it's in first Corinthians chapter 14 verses 12-19
if you don't have a bible you can look this up @

hope this was helpful

The basic problem is minor difference in opinion. This gets blown out of proportion. Whether you fit in any one of the following categories or not:
1. Speak in the tongues of men and of angels
2. Gift of prophecy
3. Faith that can move mountains
4. The greatest matyr (I Cor 13:1-4)
we are not going into heaven. It does not mean that the above are not there or not essential.

Please look at what Jesus says:
Mat 7:21 "Not everyone who calls me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only those who do what my Father in heaven wants them to do.
Mat 7:22 When the Judgment Day comes, many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord! In your name we spoke God's message, by your name we drove out many demons and performed many miracles!'
Mat 7:23 Then I will say to them, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people!'

There are somethings that are more important. We have to put his words into action.
So if a baptist and a pentecost or protestant and catholic fight and every division and subdivision keep breaking up and fragment can we say we are loving each other? Are we not worse than the heathen and do not love????
The decision to let one into heaven or decision of the reward is only Gods (Plz refer the parable of the workers of the Mat 20 1-16). I will just quote a few verses.
Mat 20:13 'Listen, friend,' the owner answered one of them, 'I have not cheated you. After all, you agreed to do a day's work for one silver coin.
Mat 20:14 Now take your pay and go home. I want to give this man who was hired last as much as I gave you.
Mat 20:15 Don't I have the right to do as I wish with my own money? Or are you jealous because I am generous?' "
Mat 20:16 And Jesus concluded, "So those who are last will be first, and those who are first will be last."

So also, what reward we get or if we get into heaven is not our problem. God the just judge will do it. Let us love God and reflect it to our fellow humans. Gods love to us is the vertical dimension and the horizontal dimension is we showing Gods love to all. In doing so, we are answering the great commission of Jesus and doing what he says
Mat 7:24 "So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.
Let us stop judging and comending ourselves and look to what God has to do for us

Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:10. I do believe in speaking in tongues as long as an interpreter is present. I am Southern Baptist.

I think speaking in tongues is scary....as far as the who's going where........if we are all going to a common destination and 1 takes a boat, 1 a train and another walks and they all get there why does it matter how there got there. so if a baptist, a penacostal or a catholic are all trying to get to heaven, why does it matter the road they travel as long as they get there?

This would be easier to answer if it were only one question, instead of three.

Speaking in tongues? Good, according to 1 Corithians 14, where Paul thanked God that he spoke in tongues.

Which am I? Pentecostal, but I have friends and family members who are Baptist.

Can Baptists and Pentecostals get along? Yes, as long as neither is militant or belligerent about their beliefs. Some Pentecostals think they are the only ones going to heaven and are quite adamant about it.

Is one group going to heaven to the exclusion of all others? Paul told the Romans that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Neither the Baptists nor the Pentecostals have the market on that. Granted, each group has their own pet scriptures that seem to support their unique slant, but such scriptures fall apart when compared to the rest of the Bible.

I am a member of a small concervative Baptist congrigation...by election of the congrigation... I am a part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head.. by Election of God... it's Do'nt matter to God what man invented denomination you are... you must be of The Church to get into Heaven.

On the tongues issue... self induced hystatia at best... there is no Biblical support for the practice... as it is practiced in most all of the congrigations that tolerate such.

But... If one has come to God in The Way He proscribes and recieved God's free gift of Salvation... then their place in Heaven is assured... God will inlighten us all on The Truth of the issue one day.

Keep in mind that both Baptists and Pentacostals are forms Protestant Christianity. Pentacostals are known for speaking in tongues at various states of heightened religiousnous, like during a baptism for example. The fundamental beliefs between the two denominations aren't that different though.

As far as certain denominations judging others...well, that is why I no longer consider myself Christian. I am not willing to accept/beleive or support faith that the majority of the world is going to hell, because they don't live by a certain interpretation of the Bible. That is rediculous.
