You can buy some oils to pour on their food that is supposed to help. My vet recommended various oils that you can just buy from a health food shop and use in the same way (probably cheaper) - I think one was star flower oil, also evening primrose oil. Keep brushing them to reduce the loose hairs falling off in the house etc. On the positive side they can only lose so much - they will just lose it quicker!!

Hi I have to agree with everyone else, my german shepard is molting all over the place! I just brush her every week and that usually gets a carrier bag full out! My other dog is a whippet which has hardly any hair.....bliss

Its natural this time of the year, a comb daily will reduce the fallout, its got to come out to make way for the winter coat. Remember a GSD has two coats, one woolly, one oily, your dog has more GSD genes..OK.

your dog food may not have enough nutrition in it, this can cause shedding. If not you could also try yeast tablets from the local pet store to help slow down the loss of hair.

Have a word with your vet. Now is not the time for moulting, and if your dog is losing excessively, it may have a skin disorder, and needs help.
