Because Hezbollah struck Israel first for no reason--and killed scores of innocent people. War bombing is hell--and Israel must defend THEIR borders and cities inside those borders.
Think WW2: Germany carpet bombed England, killing thousands of innocent Britans. The US came over and helped carpet bomb Germany--doubling the destruction to Germany. We answered the call to help our Allies--and did the job. And yes: non-combatants were killed on both sides. War is hell.

And I for one am cheering on the Israeli army. My fervernt hope is that they bulldoze lebanon flat and salt the earth behind them.
