Fair to who? Is it fair to the Lebanese civilian population? No, not to those civilians who don't help or sympathize with Hezbollah. The rest of the population must live with their own conscience regarding the travisty that has befallen their country.

Fair to the Israeli's? No! They didn't ask for this fight, however they are always ready to fight, if the need arises.

Hezbollah has been planning this attack for years, not days! It is hell bent to obey their task masters, Syria and Iran. Now if you really want to talk about fair, then let's talk Iran, Syria and their lackey, Hezbollah. Are they going to just stand by and watch Hezbollah get it's @ss waxed or are they going to stand up like men, real men and join the fray , against their common enemy, Israel.

Or are they too afraid to raise the ranker of the US? The US that is about ready to step in and annihilate one or both should the opportunity arise. Or, are they banking on their good buddies, the Russians and Chi-Coms to come to their rescue, should that happen? Or, do you think the US would be taken by suprise if Russia and China joined in?

I believe the US has studied every scenario, and based on it's studies, knows exactly how it would react. This isn't the bay of pigs debacle, This isn't an upstart president who slept his way to the top. This is about a man who knows exactly how he will react, should the need arise.

Is there a war against Lebanon? Or is it a war against terrorism?
What would happen if it was proved that all the arms and ammunition used by the Irish republican batty boys against Britain was supplied by France? If the french had allowed the IRA free range of Calais and done nothing about it and yet mother smith was still dieing in Dover should we of remained immobile?
A state must and should protect its population.
Until Lebanon stops rocket attacks from within its own borders then yes its fair.

War is never fair, but is it justified in this particular instance.... I think so. Hezbollah is a terrorist state within Lebanon. I do feel terribly that the people of Lebanon are being made to suffer because their government did nothing to stop Hezbollah from using their country to begin with.

No, mainly because those targetting Israel are Hizbollah - this is NOT the same as Lebanon. It would be like America targetting a country because anti-American terrorists live there: follow that logic through, and they will be bombing Britain next.

Yes. Israel has every right to defend themselves against militants conducting snatch and grab attacks on their soldiers. They have tried diplomacy in the past - negotiating the release of hundreds of terrorist prisoners for the return of their citizens. That has only rewarded Hezbollah for their attacks. Now they are punishing them. It is a win win situation for Hezbollah. If Israel attacks, then they create mass destruction - and get the peace protestors to create public uproar, which will eventually get Israel to stop their attacks, in which Hezbollah will proclaim victory for having withstood the Israeli army. If they don't attack - Hezbollah can proclaim victory over the infidels because they were to intimidated to attack.
