Can't I just understand that God can somehow forgive me?

I conclude that most of you believe Jesus is different than God, and all of Islam and Buddhism and whatnot is condemned.

It's called the Holy Trinity. They are one. Jesus. God. and Holy Spirit. Jesus is the human form, God is the Almighty One, and the Holy Spirit, well, I don't know, it guides you?
I don't get it either.. for someone who grew up Catholic, studied in a Catholic school in a Catholic country. Haha!

Anyway, if you can understand that God can forgive you.. then you are okay, as long as you ask for His forgiveness in a sincere way. You know, when you confess?

I don't think you fully understand what it means to accept Jesus as your savior. If you need or desire forgiveness for sin you might have committed, accepting Christ is more than just believing, or accepting an "idea" or saying something out loud. Forgiveness has to start with a determination to change. It has to include a willingness to do what God asks of us and trust that he knows what is best. You HAVE to open the Bible and read. Don't listen to anyone who tries to tell you what to believe or not to believe. Read it for yourself. Taking the time to read a little everyday will increase your knowledge of Gods will, so that you won't have doubts or confusion in what forgiveness is, or how to get it.

Dear Big Pappa,

it's because Jesus is the way that God has provided so that we can receive forgiveness. The work of Jesus on the cross saves you from sin. It is through Jesus that we can have a relationship with God.

Feel free to email me if you want to discuss more- or if you have specific questions you'd like answered- don't want to give you a long sermon here...

take care. Kindly,

God is forgiving, but God is also holy and just, Leviticus 19:1-2. Being holy means that He cannot sin and no sin can be in His presence. Because He is holy (perfect) He created human beings perfect. But Adam sinned by not believing what God told him would happen if he ate the forbidden fruit. When he ate it he sinned by not believing God and thus disobeying Him. Since sin cannot stand in God's presence, Adam could no longer have fellowship with His creator. The relationship was broken. Adam was separated from God. (In the Bible separation means death.) Adam would eventually die physically, but worse, he died spiritually, Genesis 2:15-17; 3. When Adam sinned, he was representing the entire human race. When he sinned, his sin passed to every single person on earth down throughout history.
However, God is loving and cares about His creation, so out of love and forgiveness He provided a way for us to have fellowship with Him again, 1 Timothy 2:4. Because the required payment for sin is death, God gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place for our sins, Romans 5:8.
But it doesn't end there. Jesus Christ rose from the dead, which proved that He is the Son of God and that His death was the only satisfactory payment for each and every single person's sin.
In order to be forgiven of our sins, each person has to personally believe in Jesus Christ as his/her Savior, Acts 16:30-31 and Romans 10:9. God wants us all to believe, but it has to be our choice.
If we choose to reject God's gift of eternal life, then we will keep following Satan and eventually end up where he is going to end up, which is the Lake of Fire. We can either allow Jesus to pay our sin debt for us, or we can attempt to pay for it ourselves. But the required payment IS death. If we try to pay for it, then we will die eternally in the Lake of Fire, suffering eternal torment, Revelation 20:12-15.
And now because you know the truth, you have no excuse.

Forget the ACCEPT JESUS AS SAVIOR. What does that mean, anyway?

Do you believe Jesus is God? Do you believe God is forgiving? Do you believe that God's mercy is endless? If you believe these three things, quit worrying about it, and have faith.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Romans: 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The answer to your question is simply because that is what God put forth must be done to recieve his free gift of salvation.

If i had a store and was willing to give you something from that store for free as a gift... would it be right for you to question why you have to come to the store to get it ? Or should you simply be thankful thats all you have to do and accept it and be thankful for it.

Christians believe that mankind has created a barrier between itself and God by what we call "Original Sin". So, in essence... God does not 'condemn' someone to 'hell'. We have a choice: join God's side and get cleaned (aka go to heaven) or turn from God and go to The Other Guy's Side (aka, we choose not to go to heaven)

God doesn't keep grudges. He's forgiven you, but he wants you to ask for it so that you show how much you love him.

Because it is only through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross that God can forgive us. Reject Christ and His atoning death on the cross, and we are left to pay for our sins ourselves.
"without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness" (Hebrews 9:22)

Can't you just understand that the way for god to "somehow" to forgive you is for you to admit to his son that you are a sinner and you can't do it alone?
Why do you get to make the rules?
When you give up your only don for the worlds sin.. get back to me...

Yes I am being semi sarcastic

The only way to reach God is through your faith and believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Jesus himself says that " I am the WAY, The TRUTH and the LIFE, No man comes to the FATHER but by ME. (John 14:6A) God the Father is Holy, Perfect and Just, but can't tolerate sin in his presence. So he came up with 10 rules. (See Exodus 3) These commandments are simple an we should be able to keep them. But we can't we have sin in our heart so deeply. Nothing can fix it and if you break one of them it is the same as breaking all of them. He also tell them through Moses that if you break one of them you are guilty of death. Spiritual death. Which is eternal separation from God. He initially through Moses set up a sacrificial way to cover your sins and be acceptable in His sight. God the Father allowed the sacrificing of animals (Hebrews Chapter 9) God forbade your sins until he came up with a Perfect sacrifice. Jesus Christ his Son. (Romans 3:23-26) Jesus Christ died for your sins to make those who place their faith in him able to come into the presence of God and not be destroyed. (see the entire book of Hebrews) Jesus Christ is the perfect sacrifice for sin. We are all sinners. (Romans 3:10-26) God loved you and I more than anything in the world He sent Jesus to save us from ourselves ( John 3:1-21, Romans 5:6-11) Through Jesus paying your sin debt you have the ability through Him to be acceptable to God. See Romans 6:23. In Romans Chapter 7 Paul teaches that the law is like a schoolmaster which tells you what God expects of you. But it also causes you to have the condemnation of God fall on you. Jesus is the way to have the condemnation to fall from you. He is the only way.
