The doctor is speaking medically and your family is speaking emotionally. Go meet your friends and have a good time. Your family will eventually stop being so protective of you because of what you've gone through.

Your pacemaker has been put in place so you can LIVE YOUR LIFE!

Listen to your doctor - he's in a position to tell you whether or not you're physically fit enough to undertake such a trip.

Your family is well-meaning, but in holding you down they're probably doing you more harm than good.
You NEED exercise and an active lifestyle to keep your heart & the rest of you healthy, and they probably would love nothing more than to box you up and keep you safe & sound (bless their hearts!).
Moreover, friends (as well as family) are what heals the body, the mind and the spirit, moreso than medicine!

Go on your trip - have fun, enjoy your friends, and think nothing more of it!!

Generally speaking you can follow your Doctor's advice. Your family loves you and will error on the side of being careful for you. Just make sure you are fully prepared with all your meds and appropriate clothing and equipment, whatever is needed.
It is tough for some people like myself to adjust. You have this notion of well-being that can disappear when you have something like a pace maker inserted.
However, it is essetuial that you get back into your normal life as soon as it is safe. It takes a lot of time, experience and thinking to overcome a setback like the one you are expericencing.
It is no small task because your life has changed, and you have to adapt.

Hello there, does your pacemaker include an AED( automated difribulator) ??? My mother has one installed and she is very active now. Just remember to stay away from Microwaves, and other EMI ( electro magnetic interferrance) devices. The wands they use at airports will shut it down and walk through the security scanners at stores without pausing. Read your manual. Getting back to question, yes, go for it, if Doctor says its good, GO FOR IT. Your family is being over protective.
