Go to a professional & ask them to presoften your hair. Sometimes grays are way too stubborn & They have to be presoftened. What they'll do is apply just the developer(without the dye) to your troubled areas, let it set for a few minutes & then apply the dye with developer to your hair.

Well, I have gray hair (I'm 27) and it depends on the number at the bottom of the box where it says permanent. The higher the number, the more permanent it is. On the box it will also say "for more stubborn gray, leave on 10 minutes longer" or something like that. I have dark hair so my gray stands out when it starts to show...but it takes about 5 weeks.

Use a permanent hair color (I think they call it level 3). It doesn't wash out, it fades and then grows out. Home hair coloring has come a long way. I don't have grays but I do color my hair every couple of months. Try Loreal's new Natural Match. I tried it about six weeks ago and it still looks like I just colored it. Good luck!

You can't! Gray roots grow out. It is new hair that is growing and you can't color hair beneath the scalp. That is why you continually have to color your hair.

go to a salon
or if you want to do it yourself, maybe bleach the gray out and then dye your hair. the bleach will strip whatever color you have out and then you can start over with what color you want.
but i would really go to a pro and see what can be done.
good luck!
