The best thing you can do, to start you off in the right direction, is to make an appointment at a salon. Look through the many style books they have, and see what interests you. Then talk to the stylist. Ask how long they've been styling and about their schooling. You're trying to find out if they've got the know-how that can guide you to getting the best "do" for your hair type and facial shape. Once you are satisfied that they've got enough experience, see what they suggest. With thick hair, you'll need an easy to manage style, a wash-n-go kind, that needs very little maintenance. More than likely it will be on the short side, at least no longer than shoulder length, and tapered to fit the shape of your head. If you end up not liking it, wait for it to grown out a little bit, then try again. Most times, after you've lived with it for a few days, it settles down and you end up liking it. It's worth the appointment and you'll be able to maybe do it yourself the next time. Getting expert advice is best. <*)))><

Have it cut in long layers. This way you can keep the length, but yet have some style. With the shape of your face, it will look great. If you are too nervous about doing anything at all with your hair, you can also go to a wig store and try on different ones to see what goes with the shape of your face.

Half pony? Straightened hair? Oh yeah, Natural waves are in for the fall and try layered cuts. My hair is the exact same as yours! I have a more of an oval face though.

I have chestnut brown hair and a longer face (I guess). My hair is very thick too. Try a choppy cut. It's a layered cut but you can see the layers very well and it's choppy. That's how I did my hair. I really like it.

Your hair sounds strangely like mine, it's also thick and black. I've got mine cut in really choppy, piecey layers, with a sweeping side bang. Lately I've been wearing it either pin-straight or wavy/curly with straight bangs.

Out of the shower, put some gel in it, blow dry (low heat), apply water wax or pomade to the ends and flat iron it. Poof up the back a bit and your good to go!
