With you daughter being so young, there are a host of things you can do to her hair.
First shampoo her hair and put in some type of dressing. Look at your local beauty store that specializes in black hair.
The best look for young girls are barrettes! When you part and gather her hair into small ponytails, DO NOT use rubber bands. This will break her hair and will often pull the hair too tight. When you go to the beauty store, look for the elastic bands, barrettes, and hair grease. You can also use your finger on her hair when it's wet to give her Shirley Temple curls within the ponytail.
My daughter is multiracial and has hair to the middle of her back..hope this helps.
PS. Don't wash her hair every day..once a week and use a baby conditioner too. And it's easier to do her hair when she's asleep. Use a cup of water and dip the hairbrush in it before brushing her hair to soften it.

i'm a little mixed girl(18). i highly suggest using lot of moisturizers. my mom used to put baby oil in my hair when i was little. that keeps the curls nice. don't try anything too complicated with her hair, maybe little pony tails would be nice.

She might if you put her in front of the tv with sesame street on while you do it. I had to do that when DD was younger or else she wouldn't sit still.

I agree, put on Dora or Barney, if they still watch the purple guy, most 13 month olds won't sit still long..................
