If I came to Canada on a Work Permit lets say 2006,
-how long would it take to get a permenant Residency in Canada?
-Does it take longer than the American Green Card?
-Does getting a PR in Canada depend on the provience you apply
from or does it take the same amount of time no matter where you apply from.

Well since there are individuals in here that figure yahoo answers is not to answer peoples question but to be snide and hateful... I will answer your question since I like helping people with things.

Permanent Residencey depends whether you are doing the application yourself or whether or not you are being sponsored. Usually takes about a year(basing it on a sponsor package that I am currently working on) If you want to be a citizen then you will be required to stay in Canada for a minimum or 3 years before you can take the test.

Green Card takes about 2 years so I have been told. Quebec seems to have different applications or requirements then the rest of the country. As for time..... all the same no matter where you are.

Check out this website www.cic.gc.ca and it will have everything you need.
