I see candy bars and chocolates going for five or even SIX for a dollar. Isn't that crazy?? Little Debbies are like 85 cents for a box! And that's regular priced. When they go on sale, their even more accessible. How come the organic and healthy foods never go on such cheap sales?? Does anyone care out there???? They just want us to deteriorate our health so then we can go on all the medicines out there to "reverse" the effects. These meds cost $$$. No one cares about health anymore. It's al about money, money and more money! That's really sad...
North Americans are the FATTEST people on the face of the Earth! We are the super consumers! There is enough food to feed ALL the people that live here on Earth if it was all distributed evenly. But NO. We are such an orally obsessed nation. We have to constantly chew on something. Snack on something. Munch on something. Eat, eat, and then eat some more....When will we ever realize??? WAKE UP PEOPLE! They are killing us!!!!

I'm with you. FOr some resaon, refined foods are cheaper, while one would think the refining process wouldmake them more expensive. I buy healthy snacks like granola, trail mix, unsalted peanuts. I don't miond paying the price. It's cheaper than paying that OTHER price.

Organic foods are much more expensive to produce. Without pesticides and other chemicals a lot of crops are unusable and require a lot of land to produce and more labor to nurture the crops without the help of chemicals. We could feed everybody on earth now precisely thanks to the technology that mass produces all kind of cheap foods not just candy bars. In the past before the advent of such technology there were many famines and most people were often hungry. The life expectancy of most people in most countries has considerably gone up in the last century. We must be doing something right.
Why don't you grow a vegetable garden for yourself? If you have to move to do so, why don't you if it means so much to you? It is very hard work though, I tried it myself.

I am SO with you! My husband is always b!tching about how much I spend at the store, but it's what eating healthy costs!!!

The fact of the matter is, fats are good fillers in foods, and grains are cheap to manufacture and convert into foods such as pastas. The poorer you are, the worse your diet - no question about it!
Vegetables, good cuts of meats and low-fat foods are ridiculously expensive because it actually costs so much to refine them to the point where they meet the standards of discriminating shoppers. Moreover, its a matter of supply and demand - if you're willing to pay the price for "good" food, then you'll be paying whatever they demand.

It IS crazy, no doubt about it.
