Hemp is one of the first fibers to be used by mankind. You can make anything out of hemp fibers that you can make out of say cotton or linen. Incidentally it is such a tough fiber that a pair of jeans made from hemp fibre would last a lifetime (wouldn't wear out) which is probably why hemp isn't used for clothing. It would make equally tough paper and we would need to cut down forests since it is renewable.
