I have a few straighteners (I get discounts on them because of my profession, and I am a total hair stuff junkie, hehe).
Try something from RUSK. ITs a professional line, so it could cost around $150 (in Canada where I am)
CHI brand is AWESOME!!! I have a slim line tourmaline straightener I am addicted to. It was $179 but worth EVERY PENNY. When my dog ate half the cord the compnay replaced the straightener for me!! !! !!
I also have a "crazy Str8" one. It is awesome, very slim. It is the one I take travelling with me. IT was only $49 with a carry case. I think you can get it at Jaguar Beauty Supply (in the US i think it might be called Professional BEauty Systems??)
Get a ceramic one. Metal plates fry your hair! OR a coated ionized one. But, don't go out of your way to pay extra cash because it says its ionized. It doesn't make too much of a difference if you use a good straightening styling product in your hair before straightening....

I was looking for one for awhile too, but am not willing to spend $100. So I found one...... PorcelainSeries Tilbere DeParis mdl# Jbp2558. It only cost me $40. Go to where the hairslons buy their products......You can get a really expensive one if you want. I have REALLY thick hair that frizzes and curls easy....I've tried a bunch of hair straighteners from like walmart...they didn't work. But this one works really well.

the chi is a GREAT one, about $150 but be careful because it's very easy for your hair to get caught under the plates and pulled out. not good.
