Am I a so-called "Fundy" ?

I dont consider myself in any religeon but i do pretty much believe the bible word-for-word ... should i embrace my classification now, or does it apply to me?

I'd say if you believe the bible literally you're most likely a fundamental Christian. Embrace it if it feels good but just don't try and convert others or put down other beliefs and you'll be ok.

Fundamentalist is one who follows their religious texts. A Fundy is a Fanatic who thinks everyone else has to as well, and will take any measure to force it on others... even commiting "sins" as listed by their religion to do so... such as killing, etc...

You just believing in the bible word for word just makes you a believer in it. Now, if you start in on everyone here who doesn't believe the bible, then you'll probably get called a fundy.

My definition of a "fundy" also includes the fundamental belief that you MUST go around trying to convert everyone you meet. If you not only believe every story told in the bible, but also go around pestering everyone to believe them with you, then you probably are a fundy.

If you don't consider yourself as part of any religion, what prompted you to get started on the bible?

A definition of a "Fundy" is one who believes in the core fundamentals of a religion. I'd say you're a fundy. I've gotta ask, if you believe in the Bible word-for-word, do you condone slavery?

I'm a "Jesus Freak" and I'm trying to understand the Bible word for word. I've been in several religions and believe that my presant state is much healthier than subscribing to a religion. friend a more important "classification" is the fact that your a child of God. Fundi.. or not.... what matters is your relationship with God reguardless of what others may think of you. Always remember .... their opinion of you wont get you into heaven and it wont keep you out.... the only opinion or classification that matters is that of Jesus Christ

Hey "Fundy" let me ask you a question. If you believe the bible "word for word", then explain to me this...

When a slave-owner strikes a male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies immediately, the owner shall be punished. But if the slave survives for a day or two, there is no punishment; for the slave is the owner’s property. [Exodus, chapter 21]

So where is your slave??? Or how about this...

If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbour, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death. The man who lies with his father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of them shall be put to death; their blood is upon them. If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall be put to death; they have committed perversion; their blood is upon them. If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them. [Leviticus, chapter 20]

Put to death any adulterers and homosexuals yet???

Hmmm, doesn't make a whole lot of sense does it? I tell you what - you start following the bible "word for word". And when you are imprisoned and executed, you can send me a postcard and tell me where you ended up - in "heaven" or "hell".
