Actually, eat something before you drink. This way the alcohol won't go directly into your system so qiuckly. You will get drunk but not as fast.

Drinking olive oil or any other oil works by coating the stomach and slowing the absorption of alcohol through the stomach. Some of the alcohol will bind with the oil only to be released more slowly into the body and the remaining alcohol will be absorbed through the small intestines allowing you to feel the buzz later.
The down side to all this is that although it will take you longer to get riped, it will hit you several hours later and last for hours longer that you might want.
Most important is that if you drink too much the body has a way to protect itself by throwing up. Using oil before drinking will bypass this defense mechanism and can lead to severe alcohol poisoning and death.

It's a myth, eating any type of carbs will actually keep EtOH in your stomach longer as breads absorb liquid, go figure. High fat foods will keep your stomach occupied but there really is no food or drug that is gonna prevent you from getting drunk. Just keep the drinking slow and paced and keep well hydrated. Also do not plan on driving, the stories about faking out a breathalyzer are false as well.

That's a myth. Hydrate yourself with water all day to help prevent hangovers. Drinking an occasional glass of water while you are out drinking can help too. Drinking too much is always dangerous. Never consume more alcohol than normal, because you are doing things to prevent a hangover.

It should be butter. There's even a scientific explanation bout it. The butter you eat before you drink alcohol will cover your stomach, so you stomach won't absorb alcohol so fast.
But you know what.. it's only a crap! I've tried it with butter and oil. I've even doubled the portion but it didn't work. There's nothing prevent of being drunk. But it's the point of drinking, right? :-p
If dun wanna get drunk, dun drink too much. Juz drink water or juice or any non-alcoholic drinks! ;-)

Sounds like a myth. Never heard of anything close to that. Drinking less will help to not get drunk, and drinking plenty of water with your booze will help prevent a hangover. One of the biggest contributors to hangovers is becoming dehydrated.

Nothing prevents it. Preventing a hangover is fairly easy. After a certtain amount of drinks drink a big glass of water. And before youu go to bed 2 aspirin and 2 large glasses of water.

A friend of mine is the deputy cornoner of a small city in Illinios. He said to eat a stick of butter before you drink and you will not get drunk. I do not know if this would alter the breathalizer if you get stopped driving or just the feeling afterwards. Works ok.

drinking milk or some type of oil only coats the stomach and it will help protect it to a small degree against the booze but it will eventually be eaten or digested away and then the alcahol will get into your system, it only delays it so it doesn't seem like you are getting drunk

Wha?? The only REAL way to prevent getting drunk is to NOT drink. Or at least know your cutoff. If you are drinking, eat carbs such as fries or pasta, they help absorb the alcohol.
