you fail to realize that logic evades their thought process. their thought process is limited to words written some x number of years ago by someone they don't know who about someone they think they know by reading these words. ignorance is far and beyond bliss for them. leave them be.

First of all, revelation is a belief or non belief issue: you either believe it or you don't.
Evolution is a scientific theory that explains the facts (observations by Darwin and others). Science theory is exactly that, it is a theory.
This means we have two belief systems: divine and man.
Creationism or intelligence design is a belief not a scientific theory. Applying the scientific method to a belief will not work, for example, God existence or nonexistence can not be answered by the scientific method. Why? Because there are no facts (observation by two or more in any location) about God. There is belief but no facts.
So make all the statements you want; pretend that beliefs are science (reveal truth are scientific theory); and make all the claim that you want but can not verify. People ask about whether or not God exist, but even the bible offers no proof--it is assumed.
Education has nothing to do with two beliefs systems: revelation and science. Until you understand that, I will keep cutting and pasting this answer.

People ask stupid questions about creation/evolution because they know in their hearts that many Bible stories are based on outdated "scientific" beliefs. I think it was Matthew 4:8 where Satan takes Jesus to the top of the highest mountain where he could see the whole world. At the time the Bible was written people believed the earth was flat and the Bible agrees. But these people are being told by their church leaders that they MUST believe that every word in the Bible is true. If they don't believe it, then they will die and go to Hell. So they ask these questions hoping that someone can give them some reassurance that every word in the Bible is true.
No one actually answered your question about what we can do to educate our youth. From the above, you can see how hard that would be to do. You would have to convince them that they wouldn't go to Hell, while all the time their religious leaders are saying, "You can't PROVE evolution is a fact; so you better believe in the Bible."
I can't resist adding:
The creation story in the Bible is sort of correct, in that it gives the approximate chronological order of creation and the order of living creatures from lowest to highest. First he created fish, then birds, then mammals, then man, and finally woman.

I believe it is part of satans plan to take as many people with him as he can. Satan has a plan also and his theories are going to win over alot of people. Alot of people who can't understand the bible have not read it in faith and without faith it won't make sense to them. With the sign of the times it looks like to me that satan has a majority of the world in his control. I am anxoius myself for the return of christ. I have heard that Israel has the prophetic red heifer ready to sacrifice. When the UN gets a solution to the peace plan I believe they will sacrifice it and start building the 3rd temple. Though these days are horrible looking every day I look at the news I am still grateful because I know that the good lord is just doing his work to rid of the evil that has filled the world. After his return we will finally have peace. What a glorious day it will be.

Frankly, until we are able to get the creationists to admit that they are wrong (or they just STFU) there are always going to be ignorant questions such as these. While individual mutations happen all of the time, evolution as a whole takes place slowly over a long time.
Here's a good saying I say the other day:
Don't pray in my school and I won't think in your church.

The religious wingnuts think that they are blowing the horns at the walls of Jericho, and evolution will fall if they do it enough.

Wern't those both asked by the same person? I'd say it's just one witless rube on his computer going "Ha! Explain that! I sure got them with a question they could never answer, I did!"
