Should I have eaten all the popcorn?

I was paid $30 to take my little cousin to the movies the other day. My aunt has a hectic busy schedule and needed the help. She paid me the money plus the extra cash for the movie tickets and snacks. Im 21 and my cousin is 8. We went to see "Cars" and I bought a extra large popcorn for myself and a medium for my cousin. Half way through the movie I had wolfed down my popcorn and jokingly asked if I could have some of my cousin's. She giggled and said "sure". But before I knew it all her popcorn was gone too. She realized this and started crying loudly in the theater. I told her to "Shut up before I smack you! I was hungry you little brat!" She cried louder so I grabbed her and we proceeded to leave the theater. As we did other audience members told me "You're wrong to do that"- one even called me a fat name (Im 300 lbs- but cant help it). When my aunt heard what I did she refused to let me take my little cousin out again. Is it my fault I was so hungry? I mean God, who cares right?

um, no. that was terrible. i think the reasonable thing to have done would have been to quietly say to her that you would take her out and buy her more popcorn. you had no right to speak to her the way you did. your aunt was right, and quite frankly, you disgust me. she's a small child. eat your popcorn and be happy with it. if you eat hers, you darn sure better replace it for her.

No, you shouldn't have eaten all that popcorn, but the other people and your aunt were also wrong. People in the theater were mean to be mean- they think they will never see you again and being heavy set did not help when you wolfed down those buckets of popcorn- Your aunt was wrong by refusing to let you take your cousin out again, however she was also right to do so from the way you explained it- you were about to hit the child for crying and you punished the child by walking out of theater- It was not the child's fault you had eaten all her popcorn- Here is some advice if you get another chance- Take some snacks with you-- keep them in the car and snack on them on the way there and on the way home or make a small meal before you leave or if you finish your first popcorn buy another with your payment-- Just try to see this from their point of view and you'll see that everyone has over-reacted just a little bit. I hope this helps you see the light of your ways and the many people you hurt including yourself. You need that relationship with your aunt and cousin, so try to mend the broken bonds.

Well, considering that eating your cousin would have been highly frowned upon, I guess eating all the popcorn was a reasonable compromise.

Yes.. you did the right thing.. Perhaps, though, you should have bought yourself pop corn(which you did) and bought hers also(which you did) but kept both of them and not give her ANY. You should have slapped her some more to really make her learn.

it doesn't matter if you ate all her popcorn but if you did, you should have volunteered to buy her another popcorn instead of yelling at her.
