What I want to know, is why are humans the only beings with advanced abilities?

How come there's not a family of bears that live on the south side of Chicago? Dad works at the steel factory (it's a union job) and mom takes care of the house. They got one son, he's really having trouble in school but he's all-state for the offensive line on the football team. If he had an opossable thumb, they'd have put him in at tailback...

I personally can not see that a specific acid is the form of all life. This includes plants, birds, animals and mankind. A certain group of scientist was to take the acid that was to form all living things and did an experiment in a controlled environment in a labratory that failed to produce anything. These are all theories to date. A theory is an assumption. There is one certainty that I know for sure and the Bible stated that Jesus was going to be born hundreds of years before His birth. This did happen and I know that Jesus is the Son of God. All of this is recorded in history. Not just in the Bible.http://www.ancientscripts.com/alphabet.html
So many people believe the ancient civilzations didn't know how to write or read. They think this occurred just in the last 1000 years.

Do you know how many times this silly question has been asked? We did not "come from apes." We have a common ancestor; they evolved one way, we another. To say we came from apes is retarded and shows a lack on knowledge on the subject of evolution.

We didn't evolve FROM apes......... we evolved WITH them from something else. The assumption is that there was at some time a protoprimate. This protoprimate evolved many distinct sects. Humans began to walk on two legs, make tools, lose body hair, etc. Apes lengthened their arms to climb trees, kept their body hair, and walk primarily on all fours. Tools can be used by apes, but they didn't make that step as fast as humans and as such, have had to adapt to life without them. There are many species in the ape family because of region and climate. There are many races of Human because of region and climate. We are brothers from one mother, that is why they still exist. That is why we are BOTH still evolving.

And to those answering:
I am not close minded, nor am I narrow in my view. I have seen evidence of God, I have seen evidence of Nature. How I resolve those things will eventually lead me to Salvation or Damnation. I keep an open mind by not judging! Evolution is a Theory, not a Law. It is a Good Idea (like Religion). However, it is not proven enough to be absolute (like Religion). So I keep my eyes and mind open for the signs. I can accept that God made all as it is seen today, if it weren't for all the creatures that face extinction. If it weren't for microevolution being tested and proven time and again. I can accept that God made evolution as a tool for improvement. As a test of the truly worthy, perhaps. I can accept their is no God in this at all since the existence of God is proven with my heart and not my mind. (God gave me both, shouldn't they agree?). I can accept that this won't change your mind about me. And I can accept that you are so narrow minded that you cannot open your mind and be more Christ-like (for didn't HE preach tolerance and understanding?). I can understand your fear that you may have to change your ways. (Much like the Catholics in 1100 when the decided to ban forks as unnatural!). I can accept that one or all of us will be right in the end. I can only be me and give my side, listen to yours, and accept what is rational and true to me. You are free to do the same. God Bless.

Evolution does not mean one entire species magically turned into another species Sailor Moon style. It means the frequency of certain genes changed over time.

We are cousins (very distant cousins) of other apes today. Both populations are descended from older groups.

Evolution is not progressive. You don't go from one state to a higher state and so on. It's more a matter of branching out. That's why there are so many species today.

I honestly don't have the strength to slap you the way you deserve.
Honeslty this is like the "did we ever go to the moon" question on the astronomy board.
It only serves to illustrate your stupidity and ignorance.
Hopefully someone has already beaten you over the head with your own ignorance. I just can't be bothered anymore...

Modern apes evolved from a common ancestor we share.

We evolved from early primates. We didnt evolve from gorillas and monkeys. However, from that evolution process, I believe monkeys and Gorillas will eventually become human-like as well, and become another humanoid race on this planet...considering they have the time to evolve...

Because we evolved from an ape-like ancestor. And the second part of your question makes absolute no sense whatsoever to me. "Were they watching us evolve?" is that what you meant to ask? Weird grammar here.

For the same reason sharks (also more ancient) exist in a world of modern fish and marine life. Just because they're not the most successful species in their group doesn't mean they're unable to survive.
