It is a problem we have all had since grammar school..There was always the know it all that could only be sarcastic, and didn't know anything at all...These are the same people we went to school with..and instead of maturing, they only whetted their skills....Every 'master of putdown' has a super small self esteem..

I see so many questions that are basically this: "I really want a cute, expensive, dog (designer or purebred, whatever). But I'm gone for 12 hours a day, don't want to walk it, and training is just soooo hard I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it. What kind of dog should I get?"
The only answer to that is don't get a dog, especially not a puppy! A dog isn't a toy or an accessory, it is a living creature that you need to take full responsiblity for. Why bother giving it a home if you aren't going to give it a good one? Dogs, and puppies especially, can't be left alone that long. They need to be exercised, and they need to be trained. If these tasks don't fit into your lifestyle, then a dog isn't right for you. But there are a lot of people who get upset at that suggestion because they care more about what they want than what the dog needs.
If I encounter people that show the makings of an uninformed, irresponsible dog owner, then I'm going to tell them they shouldn't own a dog, plain and simple. At least I do it in nice language.

I understand exactly what you are saying. Usually, most of the ones like that are the 13-25 year old set who are still so wet behind the ears and with stars in their eyes that they have no clue as to the real world. They are so fanatic about finding a cause to define them that they cannot see that there are good people who do not share their opinions. They feel you should go along with their idea of right and wrong and if you do not then you must, by definition, be evil. Just ignore the AR groupie wannabe's and hold out for information. There are several people on here who have been in dogs for years and do not mind sharing information. I have seen several breeders, groomers, trainers, vets, and just plain pet owners with good sense on here.

It seems like a lot of people who answer 'don't get a dog' or 'adopt a dog' are people who have first hand experience with rescue. Read this article http://www.newsday.com/news/columnists/ny-lspets4827467jul24,0,4861298.column?coll=ny-news-columnists on some of the excuses people use when they give up a dog (the best is probably the Akita who ended up in a shelter because the owner's changed their decorating style from "Japanese landscaping' to 'Southwestern'). If you had to see the consequences of bad pet ownership constantly, YOU might be more inclined to tell people not to get a dog if they don't sound like they want to make a long term commitment to it.

A lot of people think they want a pet, but they want the perfect pet. No poop, no smell, no vet bills, no barking with dogs. These are the people who get a puppy because it is cute and six months later after it is not so little any more, it is in the pound and they are out there getting another dog. These are the kind of people who should be banned from owning pets.

Well,I don't know why they do that.Instead of giving good advise they give advise that means nothing! They probably just want the points!!Then again, people ask questions and they expect good answers. But people answer the question however way they want.If the person doesn't like the answer maybe they should ask questions that most people give good answers about.

I think that because so many people ask if they should get a dog OR what kind of dog they should get, those people on here think they should answer.
I, for one, don't answer those types of questions.

WHY???
Because the VAST majority of people are TOO STUPID *&* IGNORANT(there's a difference!!) to be trusted w/a goldfish ,let alone a dog!
And maybe..just maybe...you can STOP one of em before it's TOO LATE!!
So,it's worth the effort

No one here decides for anyone. We are doing nothing but tell opinions. The more opinions you get the easiest making up your mind can be.
