Yorkshire is good, but they can be very active and hyper. Another good one is a Pomeranian. My brother and his wife have both, but their first Pom died, and they kept to Yorkie. Then got another Pom that grew to be too big and didn't get along well w/ Yorkie, so they got rid of it. So if you get a Pom, don't get a big one.

If you don't want to have a dog that needs grooming all the time, mini dachshunds are wonderful lap dogs. I have also had a maltese (needs constant grooming) that was a great lap dog and companion.

i don't know what the best lap, dog is, but the best cuddling dogs are Jack Russell Terriers.

To me...a Yorkshire Terrier...they are awesome pets....well behaved too
