I have a boxer to and now she is perfect!!! There was a point that when she was 8th months old she would do the samething. But now we put enough trust in her to leave her in the house when we are gone and she will lay on the beds at night. How we fixed her crate problem is (she has a pretty big crate) give your dog only enough space to where she sleeps. Because dogs dont want to sleep in there poop she will ask to go outside so she wont poop in there anymore or he wont. But whatever you do dont rub the dogs poop by his nose. Boxers are a kind gentle breed of dogs and when they see that kind of behavior from someone that they lookup to they are going to see it as abuse and are gonna be the kind of nervous dogs that wont come when you ask them to or the kind that when everytime you lift up your hand to pet him or her they will move because the wil think you are going to hit him. And make a schedul for your dog. Everynight go outside in your front yard with your boxer and buy a small leash and wait out side untill he or she decided to use the bathroom. Then your boxer will see that this is a good time to take his break and use the bathroom out there. But if he uses the bathroom in the house you have to pick up the poop and show him that you did and take it to the front door and out side so next time he understands that is where the poop belong. Since your boxer is this young it is the best time of his life to train him right now. They are more calm and more attentive. Boxers also have Alot of energy and if they dont get trained they will think that they are the dominate ones so they will try to run you and the hosehold. All of these have worked on my dog and i dont think she would be this good without training so please get your dog trained. And it also helps if you get her or him fixed because there hormones arnt as crazy and you wont have to drive up and down the streets trying to get you dog back home just because he wasnt the dog across the street. Well good luck with your boxer they are great dogs and if you have anyquestions feel free to email me just go to my username and there is my emai thing already there. Good Luck. Megan

Well first of all, Your kennel/crate is probably too big.
The kennel should be just big enough for your boxer to turn around inside and lie down, no bigger.

and another reason that he might go in his kennel is because maybe he's being left in there for too long. Adult dogs can stay a good 8 hours in a kennel if need be, but puppies, well not so. Puppies need to go out at least 6 to 8 times a day...

and with the training help, when he does do his "job" outside, reward him with alot of praise and/or a treat, to let him know he did something good, and when he does his "job" in the kennel, just raise your voice with a firm "NO" to let him know that its not ok to do that, and then bring him outside ASAP to let him know he's supposed to do his "job" outside (also he might of not been done doing his "business").

Also if your Boxer is male, and not "fixed" maybe he suddenly started this behavior because he's marking his territory.. (might be, might not be)
(I can't really help you with this, my dog is a female.)

But ignore those comments about getting rid of the kennel/crate, kennel training is the way to go to housetrain your dog and keep him out safe of trouble when you're not around (like chewing on furniture or electrical appliance cords). If you don't believe me, ask your local vet and see his opinion. I got my dog from a Registered Breeder in my province and he definately recommended kennel training.

But in the end, it's up to you to decide what you want to do. If you're not satisfied with our answers, just call the one that knows, -the vet.

Hope this helps you, and Good luck with the potty training!!

Check to make sure the size of the crate is correct. It should only be big enough for the dog to stand up and turn around. If they can potty in one corner and then sleep in another corner, it is too big and they will take advantage of the nice bathroom area they've been supplied.

Your crate is too big, reduce the area in the crate. Block off the back end with something, then when he gets bigger you can pull out the block. Be sure that when you let him out of the crate that he goes outside right away, then command him to 'GO', never fail at this or he won't train.

Good luck!

Are you keeping him in the crate too long? You don't say how long you are leaving your poor puppy in the crate. As you can probably tell, I don't like crating dogs. Get rid of the crate, close him in a room and put puppy pads on the floor. He will get the idea. Be sure to leave him toys to play with and a couple of chew treats.

You didn't mention if your crate has a divider, i'll have to ask how much space he is allowed? is it enough space to stand and lie down in? too much space may cause him to eliminate in his crate. this is important.
They will not typically potty if they have to sit in it all day. Is his crate so big that he can potty in one corner and get far enough away that he doesn't have to sit in it? That's one thing that it could be.
Have you used an odor eliminator on the area where he eliminates? the odor from eliminating may still be there and if so, he will return to the same spot and repeat what he has done. it's important to get that removed from all things such as crate, floor, carpet, rugs, dog mat, dog toys, etc.

The crate shouldn't be to big or else the dog will have room to do his buisness.Just enough room for him to stand up and turn.Maybe you should get a smaller crate
