Get out of the middle east asap. Medling in middle eastern countries affairs is only alienating the US and adding fuel to the fire of islamic extremists and terroists. Try to interest the UN in stepping in to prevent a power vacumn. Most importantly encourage alternate energy projects and promote conservation to reduce the rapacious appetite americains have for energy.

Announce a plan to divide Iraq into three autonomous regions to take care of the three major groups - Kurds, Sunnis and Shiates with defence of the country to be placed in the hands of a task force to be set up by the UN for five years. And each autonomous region will have its own government. During the five-year period, the task force will help set up a federal structure so that the country can remain united. These steps to be finalised and implemented will require at least three to six months and till that time the US force will have to remain there and at the end of that the American soldiers will be completely withdrawn. There will be a timetable set for the purpose.

This plan would minimize American casualties and capture the terrorists. Tell everyone in the city they have 72 hours to leave. Then set up checkpoints all around the city. When they find someone with illegal weapons or a known terrorist they capture them. Then they bomb the city then rebuild it to modern stanards. This way you have few American and Iraqi casualties, you've caught the terrorists, and you've modernized Iraq making it a better place for democracy to grow. Also we need to put in a beneficial dictator to rule for 30 years or so to prepare the people for democracy. During the dictatorss rule we slow give the people little bits of democracy. The problem with this is people want everything now. They don't wanna wait 30 years.

I would pull out ALL American troops from the Middle East and I would tell Iraq they have had enough time to pull themselves together and now it is up to them to sink or swim.
All Middle Eastern bases would be shut down and cleared and all aid to Middle East would stop since they do not like America intruding into their land and culture so they don't need our money. All aid and oil money would be used to make a super new great solar technology that would make oil burning look like beating clothes against rocks to clean.
If Middle East asks for help I would point out we are infidels so NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. In meantime I would help Isreal since they have been #1 buddy of our for decades and would pressure the UN to help protect Isreal if tehy do not like Isreal defending itself from the Middle Eastern World.
Hopefully, after a long time of us ignoring the Middle East I would hope they stabilize enough to have steady and normal diplomatic relations with but I would never send one more troop there unless it was to kick some butt in punishment for pissing USA off.

Boy, that would be a tough job. I wouldn't bail out right now. Iraq would end up being a major stronghold for Al-Quida (sp?) and they would have Iran's backing. More trouble if we get out too quick. But we'll always have problems if Iraq government can't pull together. We need better plan for sure but I still back President Bush. We don't know the details that the president knows. Just gotta pray for wisdom for our leaders.

First we need to gaurantee our fuel supply, so we should pump up the bio-fuels like ethanol and biodiesel, there should be a emergency plan in effect for this. begin pulling the troops back now in phases and prepare giant bombs for the middle east so we can smoke em on the way out.

Build and train their military and city police forces, so that they are able to take over control of their country. Then begin phasing out American troops.

I wouldn't pull out completely... I would build a base... hospitals... community centers schools and open them to the Iraqi people... develop diplomatic relations with the Iraqi people... offer what humanitarian aid I could... respect their people and their ways... by always being willing to be helpful... work out a fair agreement for their oil....
