You can easily freshen him between baths with Colgate men's shaving foam..Just rub the foam into his hair and dry it with a towel..Its good for his skin, and makes a good deodorant....When you bathe him, put 1/4 cup of vinegar or lemon juice in 1 gallon of water for the final rinse..
If may need checked for thyroid function, as stinking is one symptom of that..or feeding a kibble with no corn or soy is likely to help.

What type of odors are you talking about? There are many odors and many different ways to treat them?

Is it bad breath? Extreme tartar build up on the teeth? Teeth very yellow? Believe it or not, this can lead to a very foul odor! When it gets this bad, you need to take your dog to the vet to have the teeth cleaned professionally!

Is it gas? Several reasons for these foul odors!
Could be to much air intake while dog is eating(a dog that's eats very quickly). Or, too many scrap foods from the family or trash can. Or, maybe, he needs a diet change period!

Is the odor coming from the skin? Does it have rash of any type? Open sores? Dry patches? etc? There are many causes for these problems. Again, a vet would need to be consulted. Could be a secondary infection, or a primary infection!

Occasionally, I have come across ppl that have dogs that roll around in the ground, as if to place it's scent over another(or pick up the scent). Problem with this is, many of the will roll and rub their bodys in the remains of another dog eliminations!

Could it be the shampoo you are using? Not all dog shampoos have a very pleasant odor.

Has your dog been skunked. THat odor is almost impossible to get rid of, unless you treat it correctly!

Give him a bath. I use regular shampoo on my dog. I tried some shampoo for dogs and it matted his hair. Maybe your dog needs baths more often some dogs. If it is his breath or his feces, the pet store has tablets for that.

Take your dog to the vet. There is probably a physical reason for the odor.

If a bath isn't helping, he could have a skin condition, call your vet, he may suggest you use something

They have a gland around their anus that sometimes needs to be drain (by a vet of course). That makes them smell really bad.
