I have no stupid political identity but I believe its a duty, part of a social contract we make when mature, to vote.

Sadly, we can only vote 'left or right' and the right, with the exception of the Perot period always gets my vote...while i also hold my nose.

I give the right my vote because their stupid religion doesnt get in the way of pragmatic choices as often as the lefts stupid religion. I wish we could get intelligent Presidential candidates but it appears thats, based on our current two party and campaign finance system, thats off the table for the forseeable future .

All I can do is vote for the idiot who is more likely to only make decisions based on the real interest of our country as opposed to some grand wacko religious dream of the world.

Bush is "religious" and I wish it wasnt so, but ironically, his religion doesnt inspire anywhere near the amount of "grand delusional" visions for the world as the religion of the left. (sigh), stuck on the losy "right"...

I believe you should take your fingers off your nose and let some air get to your brain. The religious right is the most destructive force in this country. The left has no religion, only a world vision that is a lot more tolerant, and a lot more accepting than anything on the right.

I'm a Radical Moderate Independent Voter. I will vote left, because despite total control of all parts of federal government, the right has apprently failed on every single banner issue - from the "war on terror" to 2 current actual wars, tax changes (and I'm in one of the highest tax brackets), education reform (how can they enforce No child left behind, without funding the initiative properly),crime, social security reform.

The Republicans denigrated the Democrats as "Big government" - how much bigger does the budget deficit need to get, before people acknowledge the Republicans as Big government ?

The Republicans still complain about Democrats sabotaging measures, but the Republicans control all branches of governemnt - they can't get any more powerful.

The Republicans have cut welfare for the poor & given the money to millionaires - the top tax bracket provides a smaller proportion of the federal tax income than it has for the last 50 years.

Consider 1996-2006 what has improved ? I will vote Democrat for a while - although as an Arizona voter, I did vote for McCain last time.

My definition of left is total government control and no individual freedom. On the right is no government control and 100% individual freedom (anarchy, survival of the fittest).

I place a Constitutional Republic that is based on protecting individual rights (high %) and minimal government (low %) as ideal. Democracy is majority rights which, which can be anything, and does not align with protecting individual (minority) rights (sorry), since politics are involved.

Until I sorted it out, I was as confused as you are.

No, I don't vote. I don't believe in choosing the "lesser of two evils". There's always a clear choice for good in any situation and in this case the only option is not voting. Both the left and right are equally evil for me.

It has been my habit to write-in 'Pat Paulson' for President. Even though he is dead, I see him as a better choice than the candidates we have been offered.

"... the American version of representative government assures that such qualities as intellect and ethics as might equip a man to lead a powerful nation responsibly are precisely the qualities that would prevent him from subjecting himself to the debasing performances of vote begging and delegate swapping. It is a truism of American politics that no man who can win elections deserves to." ~Trevanian, "Shibumi"

Personally, as long as we are stuck in a two party system, I just want the executive and legislative branches to be controlled by different parties.

I agree. Too bad there isn't an "Atheist Low-Tax Free-Market Strong National Defense Party".

They'd get my vote every time.

Unfortunately, when it comes to politics, it's usually a choice of the lesser of two evils. That's why we have to educate ourselves.
