Be honest, polite, and direct. By being too nice you will drag on the situation, hurting him more at the end and torturing him all along.

Just tell him exactly that. Dont make up excuses, just tell him you are not "into" it anymore. You dont have to be mean and spitefull, just tell him the truth. Let him know you still would like to be friends, just nothing more than that. Dont say "right now" because then he will get the impression that if he hangs around for a while, you eventually will change your mind and come back to him. Dont lead him on. And dont go there if he gets ugly about it. Some men cant handle rejection and will say ugly things to hurt you because that makes them feel better. Dont stoop down to that level.

there's really no easy way of ending a relationship with someone that is into it more than you...you don't have to get confrontational with him...but you do need to let him know face to face...you have to make him understand where it is you're coming from...after you end it with him it may be too soon to ask if you can still be friends...you have to let him deal with it on his own for awhile...let him know you can talk and keep it at a friendship level, but don't expect him to pick you up on the offer with a happy go luck smile and open arms...if he likes you that much, he's gonna be hurt...expect that

Tell him you want to conentrate on school or work, and you really want to keep him as a friend. Tell him you want to take "a break" from realationships in general right now. You need to get your priorities straight.

Say "I really like you, but I don't think things are working out between us. Can we just be friends instead?" If he looks hurt, then say your sorry.

XXXXXXXXX saying I don't want to be with you anymore in a relationshipship but I still want to be friends is the hardest thing for a partner to take. The best thing you can do is to say goodbye. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

too bad. no matter what you say, you will hurt him. once you decided to see him, you ruined all chances of 'just being friends'. so have a little respect for him and stop draging him along. end it.

That is a tough one for you, sorry I would hate to be in your shoes.. I guess all you can do is tell him how you feel and hope he understands, you can be his friend not his girlfriend. nothing romantic...

i think that you should just be honest and tell him how you feel before he keeps thinking something else and then turn out to be something that you can not get raid of.
