My cats eat considerably less in the summer than the winter. Their water consumption has tripled. Make sure you keep their water fresh and cold.

I feed our cats a small scoop of dry food in the morning and at night and they also get 1 1/2 tsp (or so) canned food. They always seem to come back later in the night for a "snack". I wouldn't worry.

It is normal for a pet's food consumption to decrease, and their water consumption to increase when it is hot. I have noticed it especially with my dogs, more so than with my cats, since the dogs are spending time both indoors and out, as opposed to the cats staying indoors with the a/c, but they are all drinking a LOT more water. It's their way of coping with the heat.

I don't know about "in the summer" but my cats take spells where they hardly eat at all. Then there are times when they can't get enough. If they are generally healthy and active, don't worry. That's just cats being cats.

We feed our 3 cats only dry food and leave it out all the time. I have noticed that they have been eating less.

Cats will eat when they are hungry.

I never heard that. My dog seems to eat the same amount. Why not call and ask your vet? It might be normal, but then again they might be sick.... or maybe they just prefer the other food.

Yes. Just like people their appetites are smaller because of the heat.
