Well I have had several cats over the years. Cats are natural hunters and do have a big "hunting area". So big in fact that it would suprise you. Chances are though, if the cat has been gone that long someone has it or something bad has happened to it

Your cat may have been sick and wanted to die alone. Some cats will go off by themselves to die. Something may have happened to the cat. OR on a happier note, maybe it just got adopted by another family.
I have shared cats with other families before. They spend a while with me then go to the other family for a while. At least I think that's what happened because they were always clean, happy and well fed when they came back home.

I had a cat that got old, and would disappear, but then come back. This occurred several times, sometimes for as long as a week or two, and then he'd come back. It was very strange behavior. Then one day, the cat ran off and never came back. Like the other person said, they go off to die. I think it is so as not to disturb or bother their owner with their death, for because as you probably know, cats are very sanitary animals, even in death.

I had the same problem with my cats Simon and Charles.I miss them so much and I have not done a thing except search up phsycics. But anyway, my cat's lives may have been happy I just dont know what goes on when I'm at school.Maybe they have been snatched by cyotes, run over, found love, or ran off with new friends. She maybe safe with a neighbor who doesn't know that it is your cat.If she was old and nearby death, cats like to wander off to die somewhere other than their home.Anything is possible.
Good luck finding her!

Awww poor kitty and poor you,...

your cat didn't just run away, it could of gotten lost.

Cats have an innate curiousity that is part of their program sub-routines. Thats why they are always into some kind of trouble. I have one cat I named specifically "Mr. Trouble".

It might of got run over and washed down a storm drain or blew away in the wind,...
It could got eaten by a wild animal, a fox or badger got it.
It might of gotten into something an got trapped.
A dog that didn't like cats got it.
Some boys with BB or .22 guns had some fun and blew it away.
Someone else might of found it and decided to keep it,...

Anything is possible.

I'm sure he didn't mean to make you worry, its not totally his fault.

When you have a lot of cats around, it only makes it very difficult for any one cat to mark and maintain a territory of its own, there is just too much competition, with the other cats.

You got too many cats dear,... time to get a puppy, it will look after you kitties when it grows up.

http://www.peta.org/feat/catpage/

"Cats sent outdoors unattended sometimes don’t come back home. It’s not that they have decided to live somewhere else. Some are abducted; others are found dead or injured. Thieves, or “bunchers,” cruise neighborhoods for friendly dogs and cats they can sell to dealers, who then sell them to laboratories. In a world of tractor-trailers, psychopaths, intolerant neighbors, bored juveniles armed with baseball bats, rat poison, and toxic antifreeze spills, the number of animals who disappear every year should come as no surprise.

'But he wants to go outside,' 'We live on a very quiet street,' 'It’s cruel to keep her in,' say the rational people who would never dream of dispatching a child into the street."

So, do you like being lectured by PETA? I'm sure, no matter what animal you have that you post about, I can find something that PETA has against it.

Stop lecturing us about our fish.

It is the mystical sense of adventure calling.

Nothing you have done. some cats like to go wandering. I used to have a cat who would leave one night and be gone for a month or two, then six months and finally when he was 16 years old, he just never returned.

I like to think he was out having a good time, just being a cat, sitting on fences howling up at the moon dodging flying shoes.... dating....

My grandmother told me he was out looking for a wife. and subsequent absences he was caring for his wife and kids.

Keep up the faith. he may be back one halloween night. My cat did.

I know it's tradition but night time is the most dangerous time to put a cat outside. That's when many preditors are active. I'm sorry you had to learn this way. I also learned this way, and now I just keep them all in.

I have no clue and would love to know myself b/c my one cat ran away also(or got picked up, but I'm not exactly sure which here lol)over a year ago. Honestly, that just doesn't make sense to me.

many things could have happened to your cat...there are SO many outdoor dangers...that's why I have INDOOR cats. She could have been "adopted" by someone else, or she could have been eaten by a predator, poisoned, killed by a person, hit by a car, etc., etc. There could still be a slight chance that you would find her again but I think after a month it might be doubtful.
