Honor your mother and father. Its one of the 10 commandments.

"You know what that will do to you!?" Then no answer. (This is when I've watched TV for maybe an hour or two.) "Remember caffeine stunts your growth!" (Actually, mother it does not 'stunt' your growth) "You don't understand how lucky you are! When I was a kid..." (Then they would go through this long story about how when they grew up they worked so hard and got nothing for it and how they would make toys to play with. They got no allowances blah blah blah. Coke was also ten cents when they were kids! And come on its the twenty first century!)

I have this same problem. Im 18 and have a 8 month old and live with my brother and sister in law. My mom just moved in with us and every since then she has started telling me how to raise my daughter has kept telling my brother and sister in law to make me go get on food stamps then after i did this now all they ever do is try and spend all the money i have on my card. now they want me to go get on TANF and file for child support and a bunch of crap I dont want to do..And now she has even started to tell me I need to go to church and uh its so annoying! so no matter how old u are your parents are always going to butt into ur life. whether an adult or not. Even if you live in "their house" or not...im about to move out again because I cant stand it anymore..

You stay as calm as possible, you do for them from your heart, and remember all they did for you. Yes it's hard, yes it's nerve wracking and yes, it makes you want to scream, but believe me, once they are gone, there is no going back and making it right. For now, and forever how long it takes, bite your tongue. Do all you can, and try to see that they aren't as bad as they seem. They are lonely, frightened of what is yet to come, and possible dealing with their own mortality. Take them out. To dinner, a ballgame, a movie or even just a stroll in the park. The sit back, and REALLY look at their faces. Have you noticed something in their smile, or their eyes that you didn't notice when you were so busy being "annoyed"? It's called love my dear. Pure and simple

I wonder what it is that is annoying about them? I used to have annoying parents, and now I AM one.(according to my daughter) But it's mostly just a matter of perspective, so wait it out, and try to think of what may be annoying about YOU to them! And write this all down in your journal so someday you can read it to your teenage kids and have a good laugh!

Try to take them with a grain of salt, (sigh, roll your eyes, cry if you need to) Just remember they are people too. One day you might understand them better than you do now. In the meantime, life is too short to be hateful and nasty. They are your parents and no matter what they will always love you. So grit your teeth and bear it, remember you can always move out when you are 18. Don't burn your bridges with them or you might regret it.

Their your parents and one day when you have children of your own you'll understand every reasoning as to why they did the things they did. They will still annoy you when your outa the house(probably even more), but you just deal. One day they wont be around anymore and you will want them there.

Keep living in their house for free, eating their food for free, depending on them to buy your stuff, and treating them like crap, I suppose. Even if you do work, odds are your money is just that, yours to buy your own car or insurance maybe.

A little gratitude wouldn't kill you. If you are having a REAL issue with them, try talking to them about it in a calm, rational way.
