Everything sounds better when its driven properally, so I would put a more powerful amp in front of those subs for sure. Or, run one amp for each of them.

To get a proper answer you need to give a lot more info. Speaker power rating? Amp rating? Bridged? Crossover freq? DC power available? This is not a simple question of is a bigger hammer better.
