No, the problem is not Mexicans. The legal Mexicans are often wonderful people. The problem is the democrats who insist on bending over backwards to support the lazy and the law breaking illegals. California is a beuatiful place and I think they should keep all the hispanics and ship the liberals to Mexico.
Even with it's liberal ideology, i still love California

The Hispanics haven't ruined California -- I was stationed there for 7 years and all the Hispanic people I met were honest, hard-working, polite individuals. It's the liberals who have ruined California. That state stands as a testament to what happens when you take all mention of God out of schools, coddle criminals, treat victims like criminals, punish the hard-working for working hard and reward the lazy for doing nothing, and turn environmentalism into a cash cow (Your car doesn't have California emissions equipment? Fine -- just pay a $450.00 smog impact fee and we'll allow you to drive your polluting machine in our state).

This is a sad topic for me. I am third generation Southern Californian, my Grandmother's family and my Grandfather's family both came from other states after the Civil War.
I definitely think something important has been lost in the flood of illegal immigration. It is too much, too fast and too underfunded.
I don't say it is "Mexican takeover" that did it, but I do agree that Southern California is a good example of what unfettered and unscreened immigration of a single nationality of poor people with a language barrier can do education, services and quality of life.
That is why I am against illegal immigration and am in favor of limited immigration, going forward.
I agree with no-nickname, however, that the problem is not the Americans of Mexican descent, it is only the illegal immigrants, their overwhelming poverty draining our services, and their ties to gangs and crime.

I live in California, and I don't think Mexicans have "taken over." Furthermore, I like Mexicans!

No, of course not. The state of California is better now that Mexican/Americans have moved in.

California has been ruined since the hippies showed up there in the 70's. The Mexicans only contribute to the sh*t hole.

Well, I think what we're going to see happen is as California ends up absorbing more and more poverty, it'll be like what happens when you try to jump a car with a dead battery...the cables get hot, there's lots of smoke, and at the end of the day you're fixing 2 cars instead of one.
What needs to happen instead of 'calexico' is that MEXICO needs to 'carpe diem' and reform their country into something functional and beneficial for ALL their citizens. Mexico's got income, well let's see it get applies wisely and effectively. Time to shake that tree, and get a couple apples out of it...
