Prophecy has limited value because the fate of the world is in our hands. We decide moment to moment whether we will become an enlightened society where each single life is recognized as an equal part of divinity and gauranteed the same rights as everyone else. Where greed and hate and war are replaced by love and compassion for all living things, or whether we will spiral down the same messed up course we've been following. The only thing keeping us from realizing paradise on earth is our attitudes towards each other.
There is a pattern to Creation though, and we're approaching a shift in consciousness that can either be a rough ride or the realization of mankind's greatest dreams for itself..
The outcome will be determined by how you live your life each moment..

The Mayans used extremely accurate astrology to predict the world will end on December 21, 2012 . On that day, many people believe that the world will come to some kind of apocalyptic ending. Others believe that the alignment of sun and Earth pointing to the galactic center on that day will move our planet from the third to the fourth dimension

People have been predicting it for ions of time. My 90 year old Grandma talks about when she was young seeing the men on the corner preaching "The end is here...These are the last days" and she hasn't seen it yet!
Besides, If we knew the exact day everyone would live it up and the confetionals at the Catholic churches would be a riot the day before! They couldn't handle the rush!

Dunno. Any date we pick is likely to be wrong. However, if you want some freaky stuff, try 2027.
There is a near miss predicted with an asteroid (1999 AN10, coming within 40,000 Kilometers).
Also, it happens to be 2000 years since Jesus' death and resurrection.
Russell Blackford calculates 2027 as the year of singularity.
Before the start of China's industrialisation, it was calculated that oil would run out in 2040. Now, ihis date is brought forward by - guess what - 13 years to 2027
You could probably find more stuff about this year. Mind you, you could probably find stuff about any year. Pick a year, then see what evidence you can find.

The world's problems are almost overwhelming—and not just because of the wars and conflicts that grab the headlines. Every day, millions of people all over the world face a host of other disasters: famine, disease, economic chaos, racism, ecological and natural catastrophes, and so forth.
Do these mean Jesus' second coming is very near? It certainly may be, because He indicated that just before He comes again the world 's problems will increase. He declared, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places" (Matthew 24:7). While these problems are part of every age, the Bible says they will increase in intensity toward the end.
The only final answer to our problems is Jesus Christ, for when He comes again, He will rule the world with perfect justice and peace. In that day, the Bible says, "He will reign ... with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever" (Isaiah 9:7).
The Bible cautions us against trying to set the date for Jesus' second coming. But it also urges us to be ready and watchful "while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13). Are you ready for that day? You can be, by committing your life to Christ today.
Jesus Himself warned us against speculating about the timing of His return or claiming we know when it will take place. He said, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father" (Matthew 24:36).
But Jesus did tell us certain events must take place before He returns, and these will be like signposts pointing to His coming. For example, He told us that He would not come again until the whole world has had an opportunity to hear the Gospel: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" (Matthew 24:14). Certainly we see this happening today through television, radio, publications and the Internet.
Jesus also told us that we would see an outburst of evil on an unprecedented scale before He comes again, as Satan lets loose his fury in a final effort to defeat God's plan: "When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come" (Mark 13:7). Can anyone read the headlines today and doubt the reality of Satan's power?
No, we don't know when Christ will come again—but we don't need to know! Our responsibility is still the same: to love Him and live for Him with all our strength. Is this your goal?

Christians think it could be any day now:
The book of revalations stated that the world would end and judgement would come around 50AD. People get around the fact that this obviously didn't happen by postulating a Matrix of a religious nature. God is holding our souls in a sort of testing ground, but any day we could all pop back into 50AD and the world will end.
Kinda silly huh?

Yes. The mayan calendar shows an end date of 31 December 2012, but that doesn't necessarily mean the world's going to end... just the calendar.

Didnt Nostradamus describe something like a nuclear explosion on the Mediteranean Sea at the coming of the 3rd anti-christ. Along the lines of "like bright sunshine that kills thousands of fish". or somethng simular?
Could be a shot across the bows from Iran - do you reckon?

Where you just born today. There have been so many predictions, and they have all came and past. And all the predictions have been wrong. And you can change societies/organizations to RELIGIONS.
