be yourself.
It is between you and God.
Before you follow what everyone else is doing be true to yourself. Study other religions and find out if you find the peace you are seeking there.

Christianity has helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life and it was only through the Bible that I realized the real Truth. I've become a Christian, and no it didn't make me a better person. Only you can make you a better person. I didn't get some little voice in my head telling me what to do and when. It's all your own spiritual path. If you want to find a way to better yourself and better the world around you - the teachings of Jesus are an EXCELLENT place to start. I say - go for it. You'll learn a lot.
This is just my opinion. Many people talk about the peace that only Jesus brings them. I'm sure that happens. I'd suggest talking to a pastor or someone qualified to answer your questions before taking the plunge.

I am a former Moslem who is now a born again Christian. Like you I felt it was useless to become saved. After all how could God have a son? How couild God die a shameful death? etc. But life is about intelligent choices and I found out that only Christianity is the probability that God exist close to 1. This means that indeed there is a God and all evidence proves that Jesus once lived on earth. So based on simple logic the fact that becoming saved makes once a whoole person is worth while to consider.

When you become a christian it doesnt matter if you do it to earn something. You have to love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind. You will see the changes later. But i must say that it does bring you great peace. I am a christian (proud of it) and i think that when Christ works in you you become what he wants. That will always be a better person but it will not be because of you. And yes it does help you emotionally. Christ is always there and hes always ready to give you a "hug" and remind you that he is your father. He wont do anything to hurt you and he will NEVER EVER reject you. Never.

I did it because I was at the very bottom of the barrel and I knew if I kept it up I would go crazy. Jesus lifted me up and I am no longer a slave to the the sins I loved before. I know I am a better person.

I did that and all I did was get wet ( from the baptism) Nothing changed.. the gates of heaven did not open up. My problems were not solved. I was still the same old me I was before I got wet.
Just my 2 cents.
Do some research before you decided to jump into anything.
Research all religions and find the one that fits you... or don't find any religion and still be happy.

Life is better, I don't have to worry, I don't have to be consumed with fear, I know the truth about this world I'm glad I'm not apart of it. You see Christians as happy people, joyful people, but we Christians go through a lot of things, Jesus said we must count the cost, I have lost friends, possible even gained enemies because of Christ in my life. You have to understand people will hate you because of Christ, they will laugh at you, they will mock, and they will definitely watch you because they are waiting to see you mess up. But its all worth it for Christ. Once He came into my life I was a new person, even when I became baptized in the water I didn't feel different but you must know you are different a new person, you must read the bible ask the holy spirit to teach you, and give you understanding and wisdom. You might lose friends but you gain new ones, ones who love you and support you, ones who give you strength, and godly advice. I'm telling you it is all worth it, because we will get rewarded in the end.

For me being Baptized seemed to open the gates of Hell instead of Heaven.
Within a week of being baptized a fellow member of my church decided to go after my fiancee' and I was hauled in front of the church elders for being unbecomingly jealous. Within a month of my baptisms my mother was called a whore by the people of my church because she visited with a woman that was not good enough for the church people.
I have tried to join a church where I have moved to with my family, the pastor was a rapist, with many followers of his in the church. They did drugs and had sex parties.
Because of everything I have been through I wouldn't advise anyone to join a church, if by chance you really are interested in becoming a christian check out the church really carefully, if you can through you perhaps will not find anything in records, you'll have to gamble they are who they say they are.

You don't think about becoming a Christian,
I don't know anyone who has had to think about becoming born again. When you are called to be come born again you just do it because your spirit will know with no doubts its the right thing to do-
Is this a set up question?

I will tell you my testimony. It seemed like everyone around me was becoming christians and all I would hear is Jesus this.. and Jesus that... and I should become a christian or I would go to hell.. The way someone speaks to you is another way that will make you ponder whether that religion is cool or not. But oneday when I was alone and down and out, I was going through a whole lot of drama. I asked God was he real and did he care for me. See, my motives were nothing but pure I wanted to see if this being would help me, if he would answer me when I called. I yelled, I cried, I even begged but I got no answer and this made me think that God was just someone who didn't exist and that christians were lying when they said they talked to God. But then on another occassion, I started having dreams and in these dreams God would call me back to him and tell me he loved me and that he would that none would perish but that all would have everlasting life. I woke up in a state of shock, but at the same time I didn't believe yet. I was devastated at things that had happen to me. But now I have found God to be my rereward. Becoming a christian has been the best thing I have ever done. I use to be loud, and crazy, a heathen, I even use to practice things which are not of God, but that day that I believed God and I said I was just going to step out on faith and belief, see you can't come to God unless you believe in him first. There are no motives, I just can't believe that some one will love me that much to die for me, all the sins that I committed, everything that I had said, he washed it all away. Just with a prayer of faith. Since that day I love the Lord. I love what I have become and emotionally I am not down all the time and cursing and hating the life that God has giving me, instead it is the very opposite, although sometimes I do go through, that's life. I came to realize that spiritually God works and if you believe; he will answer your prayers through obedience. I am a better person and I could not have done it on my own. Have you ever wanted to stop doing something but it had a hold on you, it had you bound. I couldn't be like that anymore? everyone around you talking and saying things about you, but you tried all you could to do the right thing and it seemed like the more you tried the worse it got. While I know now that I can't do nothing without God's help. I am nothing without him.
I pray that you make the right decision. It is all up to you. God is probably tugging at your heart that is why you are thinking but come to God in trust and belief don't do what I did, believe God and learn of him first. It will amaze you all the things that he has done for you, even when he didn't have too. I know many of times I said I hated God, but that same God that I said I hated turned around and sent his only son to die for me, he was spit upon, he was bruised, he was whipped all day and night with spikes, he suffered and just the thought of him doing all that stuff for me, he had to have feelings, he had to be scared, but he still died. this makes me unworthy of him, each time I think about it, it brings a tear to my face because even when I didn't think about him, he was still protecting me, when i was out there doing whatever, he was still waking me up in the morning, putting clothes on my back and shoes on my feet. There are many ways you can look at situations but I pray that God will give you his way to look at them. May God bless you on whatever decision you make.
