On 13 April 1999 retired pathologist Dr. Jack Kevorkian was sentenced in Michigan, USA, to two terms of imprisonment for helping a man suffering from A L S to die. For the 2nd degree murder of Thomas Youk he received a sentence of 10-25 years and for using a 'controlled substance' (lethal drug) he was given 3-7 years jail, the sentences to run concurrently.

A month earlier a jury had convicted him on both counts. The 70-year-old doctor, who is currently (April 20) in prison, has said he will appeal to higher courts.

As of April 2006 (serving a 10-25 year sentence for 2nd degree murder) Dr. Kevorkian has been moved again within the prison system. He has NO email address nor incoming telephone number.

Although it has had some reservations about a few cases in which Dr. Kevorkian has aided in a suicide, the Euthanasia Research & Guidance Organization (ERGO) has fundamentally supported Kevorkian. The Hemlock Society USA has also given broad support to him.

It turns out that he is in jail. Kevorkian was sentenced 10-25 years in prison in 1999 for second-degree murder and for the "delivery of a controlled substance." Unfortunately, Kevorkian has developed several health issues recently, and suffers from both diabetes and hepatitis C. His doctor believes that he may pass away within a year. Interestingly enough, when asked in an interview whether he considered himself "a candidate for assisted suicide," he replied that he didn't, saying that he didn't advocate assisted suicide-- he just believed that a terminally ill patient should have that option available to them.

Suicide substitute into decriminalised some years in the past. you are able to desire to purely be charged with an offence in case you located somebody else in threat for the time of a failed attempt. i'm of direction going to ask you to speak on your persons, family individuals, your GP or maybe the police approximately this. The police might sound somewhat weird and wonderful, yet surely they have good contacts, and direct get entry to to wellness centers which could seek advice from you approximately your emotions. i comprehend... because of the fact i've got achieved it. It extremely does help.

He's currently in jail serving a 15 year sentence for one of his assisted suicides.
I understand what he did but lawmakers are going to have to put a very direct law to allow what he did and prevent others from abusing it.

I believe he is either dead or in jail. I too agreed with his methods of humanely helping someone who was basically already dead cross over with dignity. Do a Google on him. I bet there is updated information there.

I think he IS in jail.:( For the record, I agree with you, though. People want to die, let them do so in peace and dignity. Don't prolong their suffering.
