Yes my grandma had to take one and although her driving skills have diminished a bit she still had her license renewed for 5 years so if she can do it it's not impossible to drive in your golden years.

No. I think after you get to your 70's you should be evaluated yearly on whether you are still capable of driving. Many at this age and after begin driving slower due to nervousness, cataracts, macular degeneration etc and slower reflexes. Many 80 and even 90 year olds can drive just find but there are quite a few that can't and won't give up driving.
I think there needs to be exaluation yearly and if the person who is older is still able to drive without endangering others then I have no problem with it.

I doubt it... but for the safety of all i have always felt that once a person is old enough for social security that they should make them renew they license every 2-3 years instead of 4 and to renew i think they should be made to get a physical just like CDL carriers have to do, and take a driving test

Here in Arizona, they have to have their licenses renewed every 5 years after age 65, and may be required to take an actual driving test.

Sadly no. Even though having the freedom to drive around independently is great for seniors' lives they often ignore their deteriorating senses and attention span. A test of those skills would be helpful (but not going to happen politically).
To make it even worse seniors often drive cars with strange problems, as you can see in newspaper articles in which seniors are quoted as saying "I stepped on the brake when the car swerved itself up onto the sidewalk but the car sped itself up and hit that crowd."

yes once you hit 65 (or it may be 70) you need to re take your driving test every 5 years and also need to pass medical tests done by a doctor for you to keep your drivers licence
