Cats can get cancer on their skin, usually on their ears or nose, espeically white cats. I have an all white cat and he will never be allowed outside just for that reason. If the cat likes to sunbathe inside through a window then that should be ok, windows will block out some of the harmful rays.

I have found that my six cats, unlike people, have the good sense NOT to sunbathe. I have a Scotch-Irish complexion and don't do it either. My cats and I like to be in the "sun" in the early morning and late afternoon or evening. Otherwise they may nap outdoors under a bush or in the shade when the sun is most dangerous or inside.
The cancer occurs on the skin and the fur is not a protection from it. White cats especially, as mentioned by another poster, should NEVER be out in direct sunlight. The shelter where I volunteer makes sure that adopters understand this and they only go to indoor only homes. All cats are somewhat vulnerable because their noses are pink and the hair on the ears is very thin.

Cats can get skin cancer. Here are ways to offer protection for your cat in the sun (just as you would a human), but these will not make him immune:
1. Apply SPF 50 sunscreen on the top of your cat's muzzle, including the top of his nose.
2. Apply more SPF 50 sunscreen on your cat's inner and outer ear tips.
3. Lather it on twice a day if your cat is frequently out in the sun.
4. Keep your cat indoors as much as possible, and discourage him from sunbathing beside windows.
5. Avoid letting your cat outside at midday, when the sun is brightest.
6. Look for signs of sunburn - pain and redness on your cat's skin indicate that he has been overexposed to the sun.
7. Treat a cat's sunburn by cleaning any peeling tissue using an antibiotic cream. Ask your veterinarian for details.

Not fur cancer, but I am sure cats can get skin cancer just like people. I mean really if cats got fur cancer, then people would get hair cancer you know? Anyways, the sun can get through the fur to give them skin cancer.

I don't think so. All cats love to lay in the sun. You have nothing to worry about.
