It doesn't matter. Females cost more to be sterilized, but other than that, get whichever gender you want. You should pay attention to the puppy's personality, instead.

Well people have different preferences. Some say they prefer a male over a female only because they will not have to worry about their doggie going into heat and then having to watch her so she won't get pregnant by any other dog... but in a country as is the U.S.A. where the surgeries are so popular so dogs won't make babies whatever their sex may be...that problem can be easily solved. I personally prefer a female over a male, only because the male has to mark its territory all over the house and it does take a lot of work and time to train them so they won't do that. I have seen females are quicker to potty train and I have also observed that females tend to be more affectionate towards their human companions. Good luck in choosing your puppy...they are all so very cute.

Depends on the breed.
With shelties and sheltie mixes, the female is more protective and less outgoing. I dare anyone to come in my home uninvited with my youngest son home alone and Kisses (my alpha female) loose in the house. The males are friendlier and more outgoing. Depends on what you are looking for and what breed/mix you are talking about. If you are thinking of a mix, talk to some breeders of the different mixes involved (lab/shepherd mix, talk to some lab people and some shepherd people) and some vets. They will give you a good idea on what you are looking at and what to expect. Once you decide, there are other factors involved in finding out if you have an alpha, etc. E-mail me and I will be happy to give you a list of personality tests so you can take a look at a litter of puppies and know the personalities you are looking at. You want to make sure your new baby is a perfect fit!!

It's all about preference. I've always had males, because of their great personalities...but then again females are great too. I guess the one thing that influenced me was that I did not want to deal with the females when they go into heat. (although the problem can be easily solved by getting them fixed). So it all boils down to this - get the puppy that fall in love with! (male or female)

depends what you want in a dog. Males will be larger, usually more friendly, but harder to train and more aloof. Females, you get the same dog, but slightly smaller, tend to be easier to train and usually make the better protector - that mother instinct, and are usually more loyal. Now these are just generalities - there can be exceptions to every rule with every dog. I personally always get male animals - I have found through the years their laid back, easy going, ways are more suited to my likes. But, I don't have a watch dog whatsoever - and that is with a german shepherd/doberman mix - he's a big baby. So, it really depends on what will work in your family

If BOTH of the pup's parents are AKC registered pure bred dogs, then you'll want a female (which may cost more) because you then can breed her with a same bred male and make some $$$$.
If pup's parents are NOT AKC pure bred dogs, go with a male puppy and save the aggravation of trying to give cute puppies to good homes.

ok u want to get a female because they are much much more calmer and they wont pee as much when they are puppys. they are much more easy to train. the only down side is that they have an acid in there pee and will kill grass not that big of a deal and doesnt kill that much grass. in the long run its worth the grass because girls are better than boys!

It depends on you, do you want a dog that is independant and does thing for themselves? Meaning if you left it alone it would find something to occupy its time? Or do you want a dog that will do anything for you? Very obedient? If you want an independant dog, I would go for a female, if you want a dog that is obedient most of the time then go for a male, they tend to be dependant on their owners and are harder to train.

i would say less of a hassle would be a male simply because u dont have to deal with them goin on their period and following them around the house for two weeks with a wet rag. but either makes a wonderful pet.
