1. If one sees 'fortune acquisition' as getting the eternal reward of heaven (believe/worshop god because it gets me this reward), then yes. You also need to expand on what you mean by 'excretorical display'.
2. If, however, one worships God and treats ritual in an ego-reducing way (spiritual path without looking for "whats in it for me", then no.

Don't know what you are trying to prove with quote and big words, but like everything avarice may motivate some to engage in religious ritual and others to abstain.
