A parent takes a loaded handgun, and places it in the middle of the floor of his child's room. The parent then hides in the child's closet, leaving the door open just a crack to see what happens.
The child wanders into his room. He is just five years old -- a complete innocent. His parent has told him once to stay away from guns, but he is too young to fully appreciate how deadly they can be. Curious, the child picks up the gun and begins playing with it. The parent remains hidden in the closet -- taking no action, not saying a word. Suddenly, a shot rings out, followed by a tiny "thump" as the child's body crumples to the floor.

Who's to blame?

Now, substitute "the child's room" with "the Garden of Eden"...

Substitute "handgun" with "the Tree of Knowledge"...

Substitute "parent" with "God"...

Substitute "five year old child" with "Adam and Eve"...

Very nice... you forgot to add his pet hamster telling him that its just another fun toy to play with (the serpent/Satan)

Guys guys guys! You say Adam and Eve were adults... do you know this? Do you know how old they were when they were created? or should i say what developmental stage they were at as age seems irrelevant in this story... Let's approach it from another point of view... they were CHILDLIKE... naive! They were brand new people on a brand new world, there is no precedent for death or sin so how are they supposed to know the implications of this action? Very much like a child that doesn't know that the gun can kill them.

One more very important point i'd like to add... this is just a story... it's not real, never happened.

The problem with this is that Adam and Eve were not these no-nothing all dummies. They were innocent in regards to being sinless, but full well understood obedience to God. When you are born an created of God you have access to His wisdom. Adam had enough sense to manage the garden, care for a wife, and exercise dominion over the whole planet. God gave them that type of mind. So, they were not these stupid children who did not know what they were looking at. Did you not know that when Eve spoke to the serpent in the garden, she already knew that serpent's did not talk. She discerned that it was something in the spiritual realm, yet she enterntained the thoughts of the devil. She already had the command from her Father, not to eat of the fruit. They were perfectly mature and able to carry out any command God gave them.

That analogy will not work. Adam and Eve were probably the smartest humans ever to live. Adam could walk, talk, name all the animals and get married on the first day. He was no dummy. To make it even worse-he had only one thing he was not to do-just one. That was the only law that existed: "don't eat from this one tree."
God is not to blame for our sins-we are. Read James 1:13-15.

That is a poor comparison. God walked with Adam and they talked daily. Adam knew the rules and yet he was more interested in pleasing the creation, Eve, than the creator,God, so he was warned and chose to be disobedient. There were many other trees with good fruit to eat from.

In your first long analogy.. The parent...

Your substitution flaw lies in that..god wasnt the (parent) th one hiding in the closet.. It was god that grew the tree.. and taught them not to touch it.. BUT it was the devil who set the apple (gun) before the Child (eve). And it was the devil that stood by and watched the deception unfold as Eve (the child) picked up the apple deciding (free will) to "play with it'

So your analogy has a fatal flaw.. God wansnt the parent in your analogy... The devil was...

Well I see where you're headed with this and I like your concept, but you do have to understand that Adem and Eve were not 5 years old. And it definately wasn't God's fault remember that the serpent was there tempting them and they made a choice. God wasn't the one who told them to make that decision. He said that he'll never put us through a trial that we cannot handle which means they could have resisted.

I hope that explains it pretty well : )

They (Adam and Eve) knew the consequences of sin. They were not children. Also, put a man in the room, more crafty than this "child", telling him to shoot himself. Then, later, the Father has another son, who then dies on the cross for the sins of mankind.

Adam and Eve are to blame. If someone offers you everything you could ever ask for and and only puts one condition on it that isn't immoral or unethical and you are a grown person.....why is that so hard to understand?

Adam and Eve were adults. A child is a child. Why else do think it is an issue about whether or not to try children as adults?

Adam and Eve were adults and they ate the apple because Satan told them that it will make them stronger than God.....
