the medicus is a great trainer but it encourages laying off the club which can produce a slice - I would recommend the leadbetter swing setter - it trains you on the 2 most important aspects of the swing which is tempo and club head release - good luck

It helps to both groove your swing and teach you the proper tempo. If your swing is too fast during takeaway it will "break". If your
swing is not grooved in a perfect arc it will break (this arc helps with consistency and you can't "feel it" with an upside down club- if you swing "over the top", you'll swing over the top no matter what you use).

The medicus also helps you to square the clubface at impact. It trains you to achieve the proper club-toe orientation at critical swing points.

Power and distance come from properly directed clubhead speed. Tempo is key. Too many golfers waste energy at the top of their swing from having to slowdown a superfluously energetic takeaway. The newer medicus (don't get the old one) will definitely help with tempo.

Mine was stolen out of my bag! Fortunately, I'd mastered it before then.

I'm not familiar with the refiner.

You can get similar results if you just turn your club upside down so you are holding it by the head and swing with it. This also helps you get a good tempo. You will feel a "whipping sensation" if you are not doing it right. That sensation tells you the same thing that the club breaking would.

I would suggest you save your money and try just swinging with your club first- hey, its free.
