I have only been taking celexa for 3 weeks for PMS-related depression, but it's making me incredibly groggy and I have an assignment due in in 3 weeks time. Do you think it would matter if I came off it for 3 weeks so I can concentrate better? I mean, do you think side-effects of coming off would be bad, even though I've only been taking it 3 weeks?

Don't stop it until the doctor says so. I've taking celaxa for more than a year and it's fantastic but it gets 4-6 weeks before you see the benefits. If you stop now you won't have any results either for your work or for your depression...
Don't count only on the medication, take some exercise and take your time for the things you need or enjoy to do. I have depression since ages but I deal with it with counselling and changing attitude. My PMS was terrible some months but now is better and manageble. And believe me when I say that I have huge issues to deal with....Good luck!

usually SSRIs like celexa take a few weeks to get into your system and really start doing their job. 3 weeks isnt a long enough time...you should really give it about 4 weeks or so to make you stop feeling so tired. question: are you taking the celexa in the morning or at night? if it is making you tired, maybe you should take it at night before you go to bed so you dont feel so tired all day - that way if you take it before bed, you can sleep for 8 hours and maybe feel better in the morning. usually, these types of drugs like celexa kind of give you a 'buzz' and should be taken in the morning because they make you feel more awake, but maybe it is having the opposite effect on you. try taking it at night and see what happens. if you want to stop taking it, even after 3 weeks, you will have to taper off of your current dose - stopping celexa abruptly will make you feel like youre having rebound depression and may make you feel pretty crummy.

Because Celexa is a mood chaging medication (psychotropic) you should not suddenly stop the medication. Call your doctor who presecribed the med IMMEDIATELY and ask for his/her help.

Many times the body needs to adjust over several weeks with the addition of a medication. And Celexa is not a medication normally you take here and there (PRN) but rather on a consistent basis.
