You truly are a thinker. Good question, for fundies. I'm an atheist and can, of course appreciate the irony and contradition of "god" and his "perfection", or more accurately lack thereof.

ooooooohhhhh..... I just happen to wonder the same thing! I'm even attempting to write about another angel that "goes bad" and ends up with Satan.
As for your question about how Satan turned on us: I was watching "Angels: Good or Evil" on the history channel one evening and learned some interesting facts. Biblical historians believe that before Adam and Eve, God took any and all evil and placed it in the darkest place of the world, the underworld. They also say that this is where the first Devil lived. And that when God made the first woman from scratch, he found to be to manipulative, and placed her with the first ever devil and they reproduced silently and without God's knowing.
They also say that Satan was somewhat an apprentice to God, who trusted him so much that he put Satan in charge of tutoring Eve. All was just fine and dandy until God became a little too confident. National geographic compared it to the scientists creating the Atom Bomb. They were so exited about what they were making, they forgot that they would be killing thousands of Innocent people.
Satan did not like the way things were turning, and as time passed and God became more and more "delusional," Satan decided that it was time to take control by tricking Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, releasing them to the outside world. Which in Satan's eyes, was the right thing to do. God then became furious and in denial about the whole thing. He forever cursed Satan and sent to the underworld, which by now was already functioning pretty well. Satan, in a fit of outrage, excepted God's curse as a challenge, and took over the underworld as his own to fight against Heaven. Thus starting the battle of good and evil.
Amen... so yeah. That's what National Geographic said. And it seems to make a lot more sense than the Bible, which contradicts itself to many times to my liking. Hopefully that answered some questions.

The angels in Heaven had free will as do we. No one created sin. Satan was just conceited. He knew he was the most handsome of all the angels and it went to his head, and his ego over time grew to the point of taking God on to say that man could just as easily worship him as God and God put it to a test.
Sin is just a waste of energy and those who like to spin wheels spend a lot of time wasting their energy doing things that in the long run will wear them out, age them and cause the cosmos to turn on them.
On the more positive side, if you follow a plan that is working smart, not hard, using your brain matter for positive rather than negative you get a much better result.
Since we are not going to Heaven, it really is a moot point, but when Earth is restored, wickedness will be abolished and those of us who can manage to utilize wisdom will find no need to sin, because our brain power will let us know that a negative action brings a negative reaction and we will live in peace, without sickness, death or crime. So, who needs Satan?

God lets sin happen for a reason, for example if your mom raised you and didn't let you get into any tough situations you would not be as strong, or smart as you are.
When Satan became tempted to be better than God, did God allow Satan to stay, no he kicked him out along with all other evil.
When someone is tempted by Satan people who have a strong heart get a more stronger love for God, for God said "I will not let you be more tempted than you can bare"

There's just no getting around it. If Free Will implies the ability to choose evil, and if the ability to choose evil is the ultimate cause of suffering, and there is no suffering in heaven, then there can be no free will in heaven. And without Free Will, I can't imagine any reason to exist.

Fascinating question...
Angels, like humans, were created with free will. Satan used his to choose to defy God's will, and thus he was punished.
As for us, I can't imagine that our free will in the afterlife is any more restricted than it is in this life, so I imagine it would be entirely possible for people already in heaven to choose to lose or reject their salvation. Though in a place where your soul should be overwhelmingly happy and content, why would you want that?

Adam and Eve did not have to have Satan to sin. I hope that clears things up.

The last sentence is correct. His pride and his 5 '...I will'(s)..." did him in. He created sin/evil out of the wickedness of his own heart. He didn't need any help from anyone else.
