You can't hear a Deity because they are structures of a religion. Religions are based on faith. If you could hear the Deity of your faith then you wouldn't need any faith to be religious because you would have proof. Faith is like hope, it is a tool that humans use to cope with adversity or to create a change in their behavior.

"Hearing" God speak to you is very rarely audible...He works through the Holy Spirit, your conscience, if you will....And if you don't understand the Bible you're probably reading the NKJV...written in old English and very hard to understand. Try another--the more popular ones are NIV and NLT.
