The recently averted plane bombings in Heathrow shows the uncertainty in the world around us. Why do people indulge in such horrific activities in the name of religion?

Because they hate Americans and they are trained to hate Americans and if the blow up a plane and kill a bunch of Americans along with them themselves they are thought of a hero in there country.

So they can go to heaven as a hero (martyr), where 1,000 virgins will be waiting for each of them... At least that is their interpretation of the religious text (The Kuran). Every religion has a lunatic fringe- christianity is no different.

Because they hate the west for they tortured third world countries and are continuing to do so.
I DON'T favour them i just think thats the reason.

They value the advancement of their cause over their own lives.
It's a slippery slope once one determines that they would die for God, or religion. Once you put religion ahead of your life, it's not a big leap to valuing your cause over others' lives too.

money, they r sick, some are suicidal and think that other ppl need to die with them, so they say what better way to take my life with other ppl then 2 blow up a plane.

Because they are deluded into thinking that Allah will reward them for it. I can't believe that any good god would reward such vile behaviour.

well, they do that for money u know!!.these people usually poor and hence do this for money.those bad guys who do this pay the money to their families or may not do that also!!

They have nothing to live for, and sometimes their families get paid if the become suicide bombers.
