How many people do you know have sailed the 7 seas, dove 90 ft from a ship in crystal clear water, where you can see the bottom at 60 ft deep, watched the running of the bulls in spain, visited the diamond mines of Jerusalem, stood at the site of the birth of Christ, Shook hands with the Pope, crossed the Equator, Assisted with the recovery at ground zero, looked out the open tailgate of a CH 47 helicopter, and sat in 1 of Saddam's many palaces, to name just a few of the things the military has let me do. If you have the effort, the means is there

Just remember James M, you can't spell "Wimp" without MP. ;-P
Seriously though, I love the fact that the job changes constantly. There's no chance of stagnation. I've gotten some kick-a s s training that I would never have dreamed of as a civilian. I've been all over the world and I've done things that I'll be proud to tell my children about.
Honestly, the single greatest thing about being in the military is the people. I know we ***** and moan (it's to be expected--when people stop complaining, then there's something seriously wrong!), but in the end, the people make the job worth it. I've served with guys that I would literally be willing to fight and if necessary, die next to. And I know they feel the same way. There's no way to adequately describe it unless you've been there. It's brotherhood, forged in the fires of adversity, and you won't find anywhere else.

The coolest thing about serving is the awesome power with which I'm trusted. The people of the U.S. will give me a rifle, a grenade, a cannon, or a missile launcher and say "Go. Do what's right." Sure there are commanders over me; but there on the ground, on the trigger, it's just me. Then America gives me her sons to teach, mold, safeguard, and lead. It's amazing.
But America still isn't finished. When I come home to stand on her soil, her citizens hold me up in awe. Even those who disagree with me still respect and fear me. Because they know that they are in the presence of greatness: a man who'll stand for his belief and fight for the life of another.
I know this sounds dramatic; but it's all true.

The uniforms man, the uniforms! Kidding, but they are cool. I like the fact that, if you are willing, you can travel and live in other countries that you might never have a chance to see. True, you will be deployed, but either way, it is an experience, some good and some bad. You get a chance to work with some really great people. I am an army MP and love my job. I have never driven around and given tickets as you may think, but i do tactical mp work, its kind of cool that i get to be high speed and all, plus i am proud of the work i have done, through basic and ait and all the way to my current deployment to iraq.

Me, I enjoy all of it. There is not one bad thing I can say about my expirence in the Military. I think I'd have to say the best is all the friendships and people you meet, you really form special bond in the military. I think it's because there people know how you feel and can relate to what you've done and been through.

My husband is in the Marines, and he has a lot of respect for the Marine Corp. He credits the Corp. for the man he is today: self-discipline, respect, morals, values, etc.
