I am 20 years old and travel maybe once a year on planes. Over the past 5 years, I have noticed a trend which happens on about 3/4 of my trips. The first was flying from the northeast to the south. Flying itself doesn't bother me; but it seems that over the duration of the trip, on one occasion, I became nauseous and vomited one night. The next few days I had symtoms similar to diahrea. Two trips in the next year went fine. The next year was to Florida on a school trip. I ate at all the same places as my friends but one day was a Hard Rock cafe I think. That night I got the same exact symptoms as the other trip. The next day, I found out none of my friends got sick. Just recently to Hawaii, it happened again. With the vomitting and diharea. It really puts a damper in my trips.

As I mentioned, I am fine on the flight over. This happens during a period in my stay. Is this related to jet-lag or is it something about flying itself that triggers this stomach flu? Thank you.

Because the plane is pressurized it can create digestive upset, although usually only if you eat while on the plane. Pilots try not to eat while in the air because it can make them feel ill. I notice that my digestive system is often messed up for a few days after flying, but I have a digestive disease, and so for me it could be just the stress of the trip.

I would say it has nothing to with flying at all...but you are highly sensitive too Bactria in foods and have most likely had slight food poisonong

Could be...I notice that I need to fart like a beast the whole time I'm in the air.
