Lets say both are before, the event, the aftermarth.
Sex
1) Before = courtship and thrusting
2) Event = splurge, ejaculation, out comes semen
3) Aftermarth = the relationship, & responsibility
Childbirth
1) Before=courship, pregnancy and labor
2) Event = splurge, birth, out comes baby
3) Aftermarth = rearing baby & responsibility
Is (2) physically fun in both cases? I know that ejaculation is fun but does birth have the same thrill, endorfins, catharsis, sense of climax?
And with sex, (1) while in a sense "work" is rarely seen as work because there is (2) to look foward to. And sometimes (3) can be the best bit, even the objective - "If I nail her, she'll go out with me! (yeah)"
Similarly(?) in birth, courtship and even pregancy promise (2) birth. And sometimes (3) can be the objective - "If I bear baby, baby will love me."
(2) may have a very physical appeal but (3) especially may be (for some) "work," hence nasty bonk-and-run guys, and post natal depression?
