Do you sleep on your back?? Try sleeping on your back, and the saliva should go down your throat instead.

Actually once the corners of your mouth turn red like that you have something called "angular chelitis", and I have found that this does not heal on its own. Get your dentist or doctor to write you a prescription for Mytrex ointment, it is an antifungal cream you apply 3 times a day to the corners and it clears it up. Also, ask your dentist/orthodontist for some dental wax to cover the brackets and put the wax on before you go to bed, it will help your mouth close better and not snag on the rough edges!

I don't know of a sure-fire way to stop the drooling, but using an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream or gel will help the redness at the corners of your mouth.

It's likely because your lips cannot meet naturally with the extra space taken up by the braces. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to stop it, at least not without stuffing your mouth with cotton, which I don't recommend.

my brother had the same problem with his braces. except his mouth didnt turn red.. all he did was fall asleep on his back and he made sure he didnt open his mouth-AT ALL. it kinda just became a habit to him i guess and he stopped. good luck
