I know when my brother and I were little kids and we were out with our mom and if we started acting up she would pinch us and wow did it hurt but, it made us stop doing whatever it was we were doing at the time.
If you have children and you are talking about pinching them I would say no there is nothing wrong with it because it is better than knocking the stuffing out of them in public.
I have two young children and see I don't care if we are out in a store or something and they start acting like little fools, I will yell at them in front of any and everyone, so that works for me cause they know I have a big mouth, but if they did act an a s s I would pinch them hard too.

Pinching per se isn't bad. I can be affectionate such as a gentle pinch on the cheek of a baby, or It can be considered abusive when the pincher gets carried away and continues doing it until the recipient has welt(s) or broken capilaries.
